6105 humming

Roger
I have a 6105 on your controller, its about 9 months old. I just cleaned it but it seems be getting louder, i can hear it ramping up and down more than I used to. Is there anything I can do to lessen the hum?
Rich

Take the drive unit apart, check that the shaft is clean, the disk is in place on the bottom and is not damaged, check that both rubber bushings are in tact, these tend to tear if the drive seizes to the shaft and gets dragged in the bushings. Rinse out the center hole in the magnet before reassembly, it is also worthwhile to soak it in vinegar while disassembled if you have not done so. Fine grit or lime between the drive unit and shaft is a key cause of noise.

Thanks Roger. I did soak in vinegar over night but I couldn't get the bottom piece out where the orange bushing are, are suggestion on how to remove without damage?
Rich

Orange bushing? Everything in the pump is blue or black with the only exception being the metal rod? Any chance of a picture?

Sorry, I have an older stream that has orange o ring in the bottom. I will take apart this weekd and clean again, thanks

Ahh, ok, take the bushing above the oring out with a pick tool or a #12 deck screw threaded into the center. The oring should come out with a pick tool without much work after that.

Roger
I soaked the unit in vinegar over night, tried like hell with screws, pick and pliers and can not remove the bottom bushing. now what?

It is probably best at this point to send it in. It may need to be split with a chisel and replaced.
