6105 - No Power

I made the swap between tanks yesterday, and cleaned my 6105s before I moved them. One of them doesn't power up at all, as far as I can tell. I swapped power supplies, and both work with one 6105, and neither work in the other. Both have a lit red LED connected to either powerhead.

I took it apart and reassembled it, but even with the cover off, I don't see or feel any hint of the magnetic field changing. This unit is missing a blue bushing, but it has been missing for some time and always worked ok, just a little noisy at startup. The magnet and the powerhead motor seem fine inside, with no scoring or other marks.

Is there anything else I can try? If not, what do I do next? These are probably not even a year old...

Thanks!

Tim

Just an FYI for anyone following this, do not use a pump with a missing part, a $2 problem can become a $200 problem. If the prop binds up and the coil and computer keeps trying to turn something that can turn the motor can be destroyed. Send it in-

Roger...

The problem is that it ISN'T a $2 part! It should be, but it isn't. I ordered a whole new drive unit, but there is no reason Tunze shouldn't sell a bag of the bushings for $2!

The pump did start to work yesterday, so I'll wait until the new drive unit comes in and if it is still noisy, I'll send it down.

Thanks!

It will come in the new catalogue and I certainly could have worked out something to mail you a used one for only the cost of postage, but yes, at this time the bushings are not available new seperately. I was not taking a swing at you, but all parts are there for a reason and lately the vast majority of repairs I get are due to missing or misinstalled parts or failure to clean pumps. People search these threads when they have a problem and I wanted to clear up for future readers that the pumps should not be run this way.
