6105 noise on pulse mode

I bought some 6105 pumps early last year (2011). They are the ones with the removable shaft. I run them on a 7096 controller on pulse mode with a setting of 0% as minimum and around 50% or more. Pumps are dead silent which is great.

Recently the one pump failed and the local agent quickly sent me a replacement motorblock. The motorblock he sent is the new one with the built in shaft. I used the impeller as well as the silence clamp and front housing of the old pump. When I installed the pump using the same settings as the old one I noticed that it is making a knocking sound every time it pulses. The sound is caused by the impeller jumping back when power is applied and I would imagine it is hitting the attenuation disk at the back of the motorblock housing.

I notified the local agent again and he contacted Tunze in Europe who said that they know of such a problem and they should just replace the pump again. So I got a new motorblock and the same knocking sound happens.

If I use 30% as a minimum starting point then it is quiet, so it only happens if I have 0% as a starting point.

So the question is, could this knocking sound be caused by me using the impeller, silence clamp and front housing of the old pump? I was told that none of these changed when they brought out the motorblock with built in impeller shaft.

Make sure the disk is installed and is in correctly. Usually a spare motor block does not include the disk and it must also be moved over. The black slotted disk should face up to the drive magnet. The blue rubber cup should be beneath and against the base of the pump.

My guess would be the coil is positioned in such a way that the drive unit has to be shimmed higher, a second black disk only, 6065.792, may solve the problem.

Thank you for the response. I have a spare attenuation disk which I will install and see what it does. Could the fact that I am using the old drive unit (impeller only) be the issue? What is the difference between the 6105.700 and the 6105.701 drive units, apart from the included shaft and drive units on the 6105.700?
