6105 noise

I added the 24vt jumper now the pump makes a rattling noise on the high pulse. which is pretty noticeable.

They are nosier at 24V, but compared to the competition still much quieter. It sounds like an older pump which would benefit from the newer style drive unit and silence clamp, it may also be that the blue bushing that fits into the propeller housing on the end of the shaft is torn or missing.

Same as before, 6105.700, just updated. If you have the older black propeller, the new one has a blue propeller and updated disk design and titanium shaft.

Roger,

Got my jumpers today and man are the pumps nosier now. Very noticeable to the point I had to go back to the 18V jumpers. Is there anything I can do to try and get them ti quiet down a bit? I love the extra flow but not at the cost of the noise.

Thanks

A 6105 that has the newer drive unit with the blue propeller and anti attenuation disk 3005.740 and the silence clamp, will be 4 db louder at 24V than at 18V. If it has the older clamp and drive unit, upgrading these to the design from the last 16 months will be a big help. It may also be a matter of running them a while if the pump was disassembled and as a result may have some trapped air or the front cover may not be perfectly seated.

Roger,

My 6105's are about 4 months old and I did not take them apart. With the 18V I only heard the pumps if I was right next to them. With the 24V I can hear them across the room. Right now I left one with 24V pin to see if running it for a few days will cure the noise. If it does not clear up I guess it is back to 18V and another set of Tunze for the flow I want. When will the 6155 be out? I think one of those will solve all my flow needs for now.

Thanks

6155 will be out toward the end of November, it may be worth cleaning the pumps as well, though that does add the risk of air getting in, etc, from our tests at 18V the pump is 58-60db and at 24V it is 64db. It would make sense what you say as a quiet room in a house is between 50-55db.

Roger,

Just thought I would give you an update. After a few days of letting the 6105 run on 24 V the noise got to me. I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning. Hooked it back up and bam quiet like it used to be! Loving the flow and cleaning the second one now.

I did notice that one of the 6501 have a complete shaft and the other one only has a half shaft. Does this matter? Do I need to do anything to one of these to make sure I get great lifetime service from these pumps? Which is better or the most current?

Thank you once again!

The non removable half shaft is the newest design, it is standard since October 2011, these are quieter, especially on larger pumps.
