6105 problem

Hi Roger,

I have the 6105 little bit over almost 2 years. It has been good so far but lately I just find there are no more current on my left side 6105. I take that out of water and its not spinning. I feel some vibration from the head but it just not spin. I swapped the power with the working one but it still not spin. The impeller look fine to me. Nothing break. Do you know what else would be the problem?

Just had the same problem with my oldest 6105. The impeller was stuck on the shaft. The impeller must spin on the impeller. See if you can get these two parts apart and clean afterwards.

As Beaviz said, the drive magnet and propeller must spin on the shaft which will not spin when the pump is fully assembled. Be sure the prop and magnet assembly is not stuck to the shaft.

In general, after 4-5 years about the magnet will lose some power and the propeller will be worn enough that replacing an impeller may not be critical but will improve the performance of the pump. You will want to change it if any part looks damaged or worn or fits very sloppy. In mid 2010 the 6105.700 got an upgrade that reduced noise and improved the durability, the propeller was changed from a glass fiber, carbon and polyamide composite (black) to POM (blue). POM is more flexible and less likely to break or abrade. The shaft was changed from 316TI to TI grade 2. The disk 6065.792 was changed to 3005.740 which reduced noise on start up. These upgrades alone would likely justify a new drive unit if yours was the older style.
