6105 problems

Had to replace the motor block on one of my 6105s in July 2012 and have been having problems with it becoming more and more noisy. It is regularly cleaned with vinegar but on cleaning it yesterday I noticed that the metal spindle seems to be out of alignment - ie not in the centre of the hole where the impellor slides onto it. This was one of the newer pump models with the fixed spindle. The noise is a sort of rapid knocking and is not as loud if the pump is held free of the holder though you still feel the knocking. I did try to move the spindle back to the center but after it was on for a while on inspection it was off centre again. I have now found that I can't get it to come back on at all - either attached to a 7096 or on it's own.

I did ask the retailer but so far have had no response. Could you offer any advice?

Thanks,

Daniel

It would still be under warranty if the replacement was purchased and not already a warranty replacement. It sounds like the shaft has come loose and this can sometimes be reseated with a press and plastic cement, but it may need to be replaced. The early fixed shaft motor blocks did not have as firm of a seat as the current ones and especially if the pump overheated or locked with calcium at some point, the shaft can be loosened or pulled out. I would contact Tunze UK.
