6105 question

Hi Roger, I have 4-6105s that I rotate. 2 are always in my tank and the other 2 are cleaned and waiting to be rotated. 2 are about 4 years old and I am not sure how old the other 2 are, I bought them used. I am having some issues with a few of them not wanting to start up. I usually run my 7096 on interval 1 but I noticed that my pumps might not start up. I can give them a little spin of the impeller and they start right up. I switched to interval 2 while I try and figure this out. They all have the blue impeller. Are there any parts that may need to be replaced to correct this issue?

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

On pumps made before Nov 2011, the shaft with blue bushings, prop/magnet and disk all remove as a unit, my best guess is the prop/magnet is stuck to the shaft, this will happen if they aren't stripped down when you do cleanings as the space is tight and vinegar doesn't necessarily penetrate in to clean it. It will then spin dragging the shaft which takes a lot more power, remove the prop/magnet from the shaft and make sure the hole in the magnet and the shaft are free of any calcium deposits, you probably don't need to buy anything.

Thanks Roger, they are all stripped apart and soaking in vinegar. I'll give an updated after cleaning.
