Well here is my 65g reef. I finally gave up on my LFS and ordered my sump myself got it in Saturday and set my tank up Sunday. I plan to keep a large collection of Zoas, then other softies and various LPS. I have plans to upgrade equipment as $$ allows me to.

Tank: 65g with a Aqueon model 3 proflex sump ( I believe its like 20g or so) I have chamber 2 setup as a refugium which I still have to find a light for.

I have a Coralife 125 super skimmer setup in my sump,
Not sure what kind of return pump I have I got it from a guy with my old sump I plan to upgrade to a mag 7 eventually.
I have a aqueon 1625 I believe and then another powerhead I cant remember its brand. I plan to upgrade to a Vortech MP10es as well

I have a JBJ ATO unit coming from Bulkreefsupply it will be here tomorrow, I got a 20g pet food container from sams club for the ATO to pull from hopfully it will be enough.

I have a 250w Metal halide put its a discontinued light and the moon lights and everything dont work on it so I cant order new one since its discontinued. I am trying to figure out getting a new light I know I will be going to a t5 just not sure which one yet. If I can get my LFS to order one on my store credit I may do that. Im looking at getting one that is programable and will come on and off by itself, cause im bad at turning it on at a regular time.

I got two screen tops made for my tank as well to keep my fish from jumping out so hopefully that will help I am pleased with how they turned out.

Comments, Suggestions??

Thanks I hope to get the cycle going I want to order the Dr Tims one and only just have to wait and get paid this weekend! Then the livestock will start building!

Well I wouldn't waste your money with any liquid cycle stuff. Be patient and it will pay off. I would say just take your time and good things will come

things have come along way since the last post. I finally got m light and my cycle is complete. I have picked up a few different fish and several different coral. I now have a hammer coral, colt coral, purple tipped torch, red mushrooms, green mushrooms, two different toadstools and several different zoa frags.

I have also upgraded my powerheads and now have a vortech MP10. I hope to trade up with a LFS an get the MP40 because I dont think the 10 is moving enough water. I have a new reef octopus skimmer on the way to replace the coralife skimmer. I will soon be adding a carbon and GFO reactor to my system. Ive not got my ATO setup yet but it will be a soon new project.

It looks like an 36x18x24. As for flow have you thought about adding another mp10 on the other end of the tank? I also have a 65 reef and that's the route I went with instead of a single mp40. Of course there's nothing wrong with an mp40. Any new pics? Glad to hear things have been going well.

yes its 36x18x24 I really like the size of the tank but here lately im getting the itch for a rimless shallow tank so well have to see for now ill stick with this one. I have thought of another MP10 for the other end but the one I have now I got in a trade so its not wireless so I would have to upgrade it to wireless in order to have 2 MP10. Im hoping my LFS will do me good and give me trade in credit towards a new MP40 instead im trying to keep as much stuff off the sides of the tank.

Im having a problem with byropsis ( spelling) the brown algea is all over my rocks and its driving me nuts. I have one turbo snail now and its doing as much as it can. I have 5 more coming on Thursday so hopfully they can get to eating it. I also have some cyano. I wish itd all go away.

I plan to get a carbon and GFO reactor to add to my sump will this help any with the algea issues? I thought about adding a inline UV sterilizer but it would be a pain in the but to do and not cheap by any means.

Id recommend a better skimmer.

Bryopsis isnt brown, or ive never seen it brown. CUC wont touch it. The best known way to combat it is using very high levels of magnesium of 1600+.

Dont start using GFO or phos media until you can accurately test for it and track it to make sure you arent stripping your tank of all phosphates. People constantly want 0 reading on phosphates but thats not good for your tank either. Get yourself a hanna checker for phosphates.

Maybe its not Bryopsis then maybe just an annoying brown algae because my turbo snail is cleaning it off good but theres just to much for just him. Hmm I thought someone had said something about high Mag levels to keep it away. is it just Bryopsis that it keeps away of all algae? So the GFO will help keep Algae away? I plan to be able to get a test kit to check for phosphates as well.

A pic would help ID the algae.

GFO basically absorbs the phosphates that way the algae has nothing to feed off of.

I would get the phosphate test kit before running GFO so you can know what the levels are. Dont get API. It wont do you any good. the first reading is .25 and that leaves too much room to not know exactly what its reading at

im tryinng to upload pictures but photobucket isnt working when I click upload. Is there any other ways or sites I can upload pics to in order to get the image code to post here?

Yeah like the site loads but when you click upload it goes to the page and then where you select like from your computer its above where it should be on the screen and then you cant click it. I will keep trying or try a new site. Stay tuned!

no the way I always did it was click the upload button then it takes u to the other screen where you select where you want to upload from. I created a flickr account and uploaded the pics but where do I find the code in order to upload to RC?
