6g reef

I wouldn't call LiveAquaria a trusted source of information... a lot of what they have is wrong.

ok, i'll give you that. but, as far as online sources for healthy fish, LA/DD is probably the one people use the most. they may have some misleading information here and there but i don't know if i'd say "a lot" of what they have is wrong.

like gone fishin' says, just my 2 cents. :)

Okay thanks for the info. I was thinking just to use this tank as a quarantine. I recentally just bought a 55g for my freshwater fish. Before they were in the 29g so I guess I'll just use that. And what is a good protein skimmer for that size tank?

Ive heard great reviews about the aqua euros, innovative marine skimmers, biocube skimmer, and reef octopus is the way to go if you have the money. If you can find a coral box skimmer those work great too.

I had a bak pak as my first skimmer. Hate it. I actually ended up taking it back. Since it hangs on the inlet pipes the bulkheads would never seal properly because they had the weight of the skimmer full of water hanging off them.

I need a good protein skimmer that's hang on and isn't over 120 bucks.

Craigslist or eBay are probably your best bet here. HOB skimmers aren't nearly as popular as sump models and your choices for good skimmers are slim. From what I've read, the Aqua C Remora is a reputable HOB skimmer but it's a bit out of your price range, brand new.

If you can't find anything on CL or eBay, you might just want to save up for one. Trying to be cheap in this hobby has cost me far more than if I would have just spent the money the first time around.

I agree aqua remoras are great and trying to go cheap in this hobby will definitely cost you more in the long run.

Glad to hear you have a bigger tank. Use it and you and the fish will be happy. You will want more once you get into it anyways. Then you will be glad you have a larger tank. Lots of cool stuff out there. I started with a 29 then 55 and now 150 and still wishing I had more. Lol

you should be able to find a nice goby or blenny that would live peacefully with the clowns but if they become a mated pair then you might see a lot of agression and they might pick on and stress out anything else in the tank.

Check out www.nano-reef.com , this forum is specific to nano sized ranks (which yours would be) and I love all the wonderful information people provide there.

Reef Central is the king though, but the specialized forum would be able to assist you as well
