7,000 litres Natural reef tank - Thailand

I really like your "as natural as possible" approach and you are lucky that your place on earth facilitates you!
Are you planning having local only inhabitants as well?
Subscribed and looking forward to your natural reef development!

Yes Hudds . I am planning to stock at least 50% local inhabitants

+1 on the natural theme. The Solotubes should work very well in Thailand. Is the natural seawater trucked in from the Gulf? If so, from where? I look forward to following your progress.
Yes ace_92101 , I am talking to the supplier of Solatubes today and to prevent salt creep , I may need to fit natural effects lens and is determining how may sola tubes I will be needing as the tank gets natural sunlight from morning till noon. And yes sea water is trucked from gulf of Thailand, Chong Samesan in Sattahip , Chonburi province . That is in Eastern part of Thailand. Thanks for following my build.

Now after we have filled the dried mud in to each divider of the sump, we proceeded to fill the mud with fresh water and will slowly add more salt water each day as to acclimatise the mangroves.

You should totally link your pool to your new tank on the same system. That would be totally epic. Imagine a giant pool filled with live rock islands and schools of butterflyfish and corals. And you could swim in it :D:D!!! But for now a 7000 litre system is quite enough I think LOL.

Well , this has always been my philosophy , trying something new and exciting . My ultimate goal is to mimic nature as close as possible and for example, skimmer for me, will act like wave hitting the sea shore , and thus will be a small part of cleaning process . The system which I am contemplating, will not rely entirely on skimmer but will rely on mother nature such as Mud ( not miracle mud) but 4-5 inches of mud substrate taken from the gulf of Thailand and the macro algae of various types to export nutrients. So I will try to combine various biological filter methods and integrate them into my natural reef system and hope that I can strike a right balance to get it work. So lets keep our fingers crossed and see what happens next.

ReefingWerewolf : Good idea if I fail with this build , I will certainly consider your suggestion of linking the pool to the tank using the same water. But until then, we will let the fish enjoy the pool atmosphere - fish pool party :)

This is an overflow from upper level sump ( with mangroves) where the water will flow into the lower sump. I will build an algae turf scrubbers over this overflow as to perform nutrients removing process by algae.

Electrical wiring is an integral part of the system . So we decided to install a separate electrical mains board so that anything electrical and to do with natural reef tank have to go through this mains board.

How are you leveling the stand? I don't see adjustable feet on it. Are you using wedges or what?

To answer your question Dave , My tank supplier used plaswood ( as in the photograph) to level the stand.
