7 month Diy CaCo3 reactor update

NPT= national pipe taper, it distinguishes pipe tap and dies from other types of taps and dies. As to the Jg fittings you can use either poly or acetyl it makes no difference.

is it easy to find the plans for the kalk reactor ive been searching long and hard for the best one that i like and where it will fit

thanks

GEBC, I went and bought everything but the barb fittings and the 90* 1/2" quick connect since they didn't have any. They had some of the brand of drain grates, but they seem to be larger then the ones that you were talking about/show in your pictures, and are in black and green (went with the black). I went on NDS's web site and they don't have them in white any more. I was able to find the exact caps though. From what I understand of the fabrication, you put a grate face down on the cutting board. Attach the cap on top of that, and then the couple connects to those two. Then take the grate and place it in the bottom of the base, (there should be enough space for the tubing to fit inside of the couple and have the grate inside of the tube. When taping the couple you do it on the top half of the couple right? Where did you get your tools for taping the treads? Do you know where they might have the barb fittings as well?
Thanks
Dan

looking back I don't have the same grates that you have. I was able to find grates, but they must not be the same as the ones you had used originally....hmmm

My reactor is still going strong, when I got out of the reef hobby I sold it to a DRC member, it has been in service 24/7 since it was built.

Mine I got from a guy in Indiana, works great.

My only issue is that controlling the effluent rate via a valve on the output increases pressure too much in the second chamber, causing a slow leak that I can't seal. I need to do the bulk of control in the input side and then fine-tune on the output.

I feed with an MJ1200. I might switch the plumbing on it to feed with an Aqualifter. But that would be a bit of a PITA to re-do.

Aqualifter uses RO tubing. Maxijet uses IIRC 5/8". The 5/8" goes into the reactor. Swapping that plumbing = pita.
