700g in the mix-

KEEPERZ

In Memoriam
So i decided to go from a 450g to a 700g last
August by turning part of my garage into a
fishroom. The 700g will be a built in style tank and
I will continue to use the 450g see through as a
fowlr tank-the wife is cool with it:D . I will be adding
a split system a/c unit for the fishroom to eliminate
the desert heat. The tank is 48x108x32 and the
stand is 2 x 2 x 1/4" metal-powdercoated. I am in
the process of completing the splitter wall between
the garage and new fishroom and have yet to purchase
any new equipment for the tank. I will be pulling off
3-lumenarcs with dual 400w pfo hqi ballasts, 2-hd knop
calc reactors with co2, a deltec fluidized reactor,
and possibly 4-6100 streams. I have a new ro-di unit
and a new sequence hammerhead pump laying around.
This project is taking a little time so bear with me, but
I thought i would post what I have so far-

Thanks demeyer2-i havn't decided on all the equipment yet, so any suggestions would be appreciated- it will be mostly an sps tank. I am gonna build a light system on rails-steve weast style- with 6 lumenarcs all 400w-prolly 3-20k xm's on m59's and 3-10k or 12k reeflux on pfo hqi's- not to sure if I should do actinics.

So you are going to have a 700gal reef and 450gal FOWLR ?? Very nice... LOL you beat me on my plans for a 600gal reef and 220gal FOWLR :p

Looks like a great project- Having the roll up garage door will be a nice feature and a mini split should do just fine on a single stall garage. Probably a good idea to insulate the garage door if you haven't already. Keep the pics coming.

Sidewinder and Anatlas- both of your guys threads have been very informative to say the least. I do plan on insulating the garage door and it will only be opened on an emergency basis to be honest. What do you guys think about having the refugium above tank level and having it overflow into the tank ? And have we decided that a sponge filter system is something worth adding? Just taking in ideas while I finish the sheet rock-thanks

I like the idea of having the ref overflowing into the display, if I had more room to work with that is what I would be doing...

So I have begun to aquire a few new goodies-

I think the SPS might not make the transfer so you need to send them to me for safekeeping :) j/k

Really Nice. Can't wait to see the finished project. I thought my 450 was big!

Thank you for the good endorsments -Fliger, you pushed me over the edge about the H&S brah,we should be able to pull some terds now :D

WOW!! I am definatly tagging along. How long has the 450 been set up. It looks really great. I am interested to see how the black granite will look around the tank.

Way to go man. This is really going to be a tank to follow. Keep up the good work! :)

Wow, that granite trim is sweet. I may do something like that. I have been looking for a way to give good contrast without making the whole wall dark. My tank is in the lower floor which has low ceilings and if I make the whole wall dark colored it will "shrink" the room considerably. Thanks for the great idea!

I completly agree! It looks awsome, especially against the red! :)

Now that we have hit 90 degrees here in Las Vegas, the need for the split system a/c is showing it's face. Here is the unit that will supply the fish room- http://www.acdirect.info/xcart/product.php?productid=382 -plumbing is also coming to mind and I was wanting to know if there were any suggestions for clear/white plastic tubs I could use for sumps?? The black rubbermaids will not allow me to see detritus build up as well.
