7095 Moon light

Roger,

I'm having issues with a 7095 photo cell/moon light. I'm honestly not even sure as to whether or not it works at all, lol. I don't see the light come on at night, that much I can tell for sure. Is this part water resistant? If it is fried, is there any way of fixing it?

Thanks!

They can be replaced, how difficult it is depends on age. Before Nov 2008 this was soldered in and after they were plugged in inside and easier to change. They are water resistant and that is the key "resistant" not "proof" if it sits in water it will fail. I would verify it doesn't work by making sure the moonlight mode is on on the controller, a green light will indicate that. Check very closely, the moonlight brightens and dims through a 29 day lunar phase, one day it is off, for about a week it is very dim so if you are not looking closely in a dark room, you may not notice it.

Okay at least it can be replaced. How can I tell the manufacturing date without opening it up to see if it is soldered or plugged in? I don't see a serial # anyhwere on the unit.

Good point, I didn't think about the moonlight cycle. I just double checked, and nothing for the second night in a row. Hmm.

If you remove the four screws on the back, you can open the controller and see how the photocell/LED connects as well as a sticker with the manufacture date.

Roger,

if I have one of the older 7095 with the soldered moonlight, would I be able to just cut the wires and wire nut the the wires together.

Thanks Bryan

You probably could, but it would look bad and be failure prone, there is no life or death to the controller, the pumps will run without it and you can turn them down even so I would send the controller in and have it done right.

Roger

If I send it in would the old 7095 be retrofitted with the new moonlight port so replacing the moonlight be as easy as the new versions?

Thanks Bryan

It isn't possible to add the quick connection, the board was changed to accommodate this and it is not something that is a frequent concern. I would just try to keep it from getting submerged and it should last many years.

$34 for the part and whatever the return shipping is, which is likely about $10-$12.
