7096 - moonlight and other questions

Does anyone have an example of 7096 programming? Can I turn the powerheads onto full power and have them run at lower powers via the controller?

I will be using two tunze 6100 in my 90g. I want to create some wave act using full power pulses then a larger variety of other pulse and power lengths. Perhaps something slightly different every single hour. Is this within the capabilities of the unit?

Also, what is the moonlight that the unit comes with? I do not understand this.

You set a single program that is repeated until you manually change it. For example, pump one alternates from 30%-100% power every 3 seconds and pump 2 alternates from 60%-90% every 3 seconds. Or, one pump is on and pulsing, the other is off and 6 hours later they alternate. You can overlap this with a daily-weekly storm, which is a preprogrammed storm surge.

There is a small LED on the end of the photocell that mounts on the tank, it turns on in darkness and brightens and dims to emulate a 29 day lunar cycle.

You can download the software on tunze.com, it includes a PDF of the manual.

How water sensitive are the led and photocell?

It sounds like the program can be as long as you want, so I could have my pumps running different every hour in a 24 hour period - then repeat the next day.

Is this correct?

Edit: (I am downloading the program now to play around with it a bit)

No, you set one program, for example, pump pulse from 30% to 100% every 3 seconds, and it runs that program indefinitely with no change until you manually change the configuration. You cannot set different hourly changes, you can set it to alternate between pumps every few minutes or hours, but this is also fixed and repeats indefinitely until you manually change it.

The LED and photocell are moisture resistant, they can withstand a humid environment, but cannot be submerged.

If you are only using two pumps is there any advantage of the multi controller over the single controller aside from independently running each pump.

Coordination and more features. The 7091 lacks a moonlight, night mode requires an optional photocell, you cannot run a sequential or interval mode where pumps come on in sequence or alternating, you cannot use storm mode or run a wavebox, these are all options that the 7096 has that the 7091 does not. Basically the 7091 can only pulse a pump, a 7096 you can pulse them and have them come on and off in set patterns and set the pulses to be opposing and in sync.

I have two 6100's in my 90g tank. Way more flow than I need.

I was thinking that I could utilize them best by using the wave function. If I use this function pump 1 (30-100) and pump 2 (100-30) what should I set the pulse flow at the get the best wave?

What do you think is the best program to utilize these pumps? Currently they are on opposite sides of the tank facing each other.

On the 7096, you would just select wavemode and program them to cycle on and off at the frequency that creates a true wave. I would probably place both on the same side and use synchronous wave mode.
