7096 used to work, now can't find port.

I've reinstalled it several times but it still doesnt work. When I plug it into any usb port I get a windows message saying that the device has malfunctioned. Ive tried it on 2 different computers, both giving the same error.

The controller is working as normal.

I saw were some people were saying to open different com ports but I can't seem to find where to do that at.

Com ports would be listed in device manager under control panel. I am not super familiar with the software but the message actually says device malfunction not no com port found? Have you tried plugging in the controller then opening the program?

I've tried everything. I read somewhere where Roger said a guy had success with having the program running twice at the same time and that hasn't helped me. I've tried every usb port, opening the program first, then plugging in the controller, then the other way around. I've deleted the controller from device manager, then went through the install all over again, with the disk, and with the updated version off the website.

I've ordered a new usb cable since I've had no luck finding on locally.


Also I can't find the com ports in my device manager, I'm running vista home, and it may just not have me as the admin for some reason and doesnt let me see them.

got it. Brian from finsreef let me borrow another cable while im waiting on the 2 I ordered to come and that fixed the problem.
