70w MH viper light?

my 70 viper came on today just like it does ever day and I went out and came back home and it was off, I checked the cords and the fuse and it is all good, and the power light comes on. what could be going on?
could it be the bulb?

I'd say bulb. I just bought the same light for my nano and after a week I turned it on and it only gave of a weak blue glow that turned to darkness. I then called the company and they were very helpful and promptly sent me a new bulb. It has been two weeks and things have been good. *Knocks on wood* The only problem was the face was hard to get off to change the bulb. good luck.

the stock bulb w/ the 70 watt fixture is junk. I've tried a 10k AB bulb, but the thing waaaaaaaaaaay to yellow for my likings (extremely bright tho). I got the 20k 70 watt reef grow from catalina aquarium and needless to say i'm extremely pleased w/ it. As for it being a "20k" bulb, it looks more like a 14k to me, but its a little blue and suprisingly bright. Alot brighter than the stock jbj bulb. Best part about it is the bulb is only $30.00

Thanks for the reply stewie, but you are two days late. I ordered a bulb and it cost 42.00 and it is a reef glow 14000k.

My guess is that your bulb exploded. This is a known issue with these lights and happened to me. If you call JBJ they should send you another bulb free of charge (well, $10 S&H fee)...

do any of your lights get hot i saw one at a lfs and i touched it and it was crazy hot... just wondering

jbj sent me a free replacement bulb that works great.They didn't charge me shipping and handling, they also sent me a ups return label for the bunk bulb.

I don't have a warranty with my light, It was used at a trade show for three days, and I got a great deal on it.
Do you think they will replace it? in my case.

I bought mine through marinedepot(I think). I called one then the other through my confusion. In the end jbj and the company sent me a light no problem. The company light didn't fit so I sent it back even though they told me to keep it(it didn't fit anyway). I hadn't sent in the warranty stuff either. I'd tell them you bought it at trade show but leave out the used part. They were very nice about the whole thing. Didn't question me, just wanted me to be happy. try it.
