Had the tank ordered in December. I wanted starphire front, euro brace and external overflow. When I submitted the blue print, everything seem fine. The tank builder wants to make the overflow a bit wider which was no biggie since I have the room. However, now I was told the tank this size requires cross bracing. Sigh... if I want cross bracing or center brace, I would have gone with other places and would not order it from another country. I am upset right now, what would you do???

How much money have you paid already? Did you use a credit card? Did you have any type of contract in writing?

What is the name of the company? Sounds like they want to squeeze you for more $.

There are some super tanks made in Canada - Aquarium Obsessed. Surely it is not them feeding you this line of poo. The tank you desire is very buildable.

i agree w/ acrosteve.......i had a custom starfire tank made for a client 72"x36"x29"..the canucks sent me a tank with a center brace.....we removed it and added 4"x 3/4" euro bracing.....no problems....you can save money ordering from canada but the hassle you get when the tank come is NOT worth it....

My guess is AO...

I know that when I ordered my tank back in Sept 05 I wanted to have 3 sided Starphire and that if I didn't want cross-bracing I would not be able to go over 24" tall... At the time I was looking for like a 96x48x26 and then when I was told anything over 24" with out cross-bracing would need to be built in 3/4" Diamante (Low Iron) I jumped up to 30" high...

I just ordered a tank from AO and they are building my tank 72"x40"x28" with 3/4 in glass eurobraced with no center brace.

I was looking at another place in the U.S. and they wanted quite a bit more for the 3/4 in glass. The place in the U.S. offered to make it out of 1/2 in with X-bracing and bottom bracing. This was not what I wanted so I looked into AO and they had the right deal for what I wanted. AO never even attempted to sell me x-bracing (but I did specifically request not to have it)

Bottom line is do not settle for something you do not want! Shop around and get what you want for peace of mind. If they mislead you let them know and either they will fix it or go with another builder.

Thanks for the feedbacks guys. I am not going to disclose name at this time. I was contacted by the builder after the post and was told that I misunderstood the request they sent me and the issue has been taking care of since then. I will definitely report back if things change. As of now, the delivery date has been postponed.
