IME No longer than 8 months.

It will light for 18 months but you will lose par and the color can shift. It also matters if you are over driving the bulbs. A lot of the German reefers are changing there's after 6 months.

Some of the lastest tests were showing a considerable decrease after 6-8 months but many still do go longer. I guess the only way is to watch for algae growth and coral health.

Don't do it man. If you are having heat issues then a chiller might help.
