75 gallon frag with closed loop

Here are some pictures of my 75 gallon frag tank I am in the process of setting up in the garage. I am using Gen-X8500 for the return pump, and will have an Octopus 200 for the skimmer. The closed loop consists of a Reeflow Sequence Dart for the pump (2 1.5" suctions and 4 3/4" outlets) the outlets are controlled by 2 SCWDs (trying out to see if enough flow). The lighting is 2 400W MHs 20K bulbs mounted in an old poolhall Miller Lite light.

I still have to finish the sump (install baffles) after I get the skimmer and then plumb the return pump.

What do you think?

Looks awsome but if it is a frag tank wouldnt you want to run a lower K bulb like a 10,000k or 6500k to get maximum growth. Not to be rude just a suggestion.:)

I think those scwds will kill your dart. You won't get any flow out of those. Why waste a good pump like that? If you can spring it, get an OM squirt or 4-way to hook up to the dart. Otherwise, remove the scwds and just have a couple of locline returns come off of each side of the tee. My scwd took my Iwaki 40 down to aout 300 gph, wouldn't want to see what it would do to a 3600 gph dart.

PS - love the light hood :D

Thanks for the info, I was just see how they would do. I am not liking the flow out of them so will probably remove them and just plumb straight until I can get an OM.

Thanks again

I orginally bought the lights for my wife's new 120 gallon tank in the house but she decided that she would rather have T5's on it to prevent any heat issues (so I couldn't argue since I needed to get lights for the frag tank anyway).

So the next bulbs will be 10K's

Thanks

Tony

I get pretty good growth with my 20ks, its also much easier to sell corals that under a 20k bulb. But yeah 400w 10ks would really light a fire under those frags. Looks pretty cool though Tony, you should market your beer light idea to fund your reefing. Might not make you rich but could be a few extra $s.
