75 gallon in wall project.

I began construction on my new porject last night. I will be putting a 75 gallon reef in my wall under my flatscreen which I believe should turn out pretty good. The tank will be in my laundry room which should make for easier water changes and over all care. Sunday I should be cutting the whole out, building the stand and some beauty work on the wall, as well as remounting the TV.

Please elaborate on why you wouldn't do it, as far as lighting I watch most of my tv late at night when the lights are off or on night cycle.

The tank will be set 3 to 4 inches back into the wall, all the moisture will be going into the laundry room.

That diagram looks right to me. I can understand the light interfering with watching TV, but it sounds like he has the light/TV schedule figured out. I don't see how any physical damage would happen to the TV... Except for the fact that salt creep can find a way to get anywhere.

Should be interesting trying to watch TV and focusing on the aiptasia right below it:lol:

Can't say that makes much sense to me but I guess if you're cramped for space....

Good Luck

I think it looks great. I have something similar, though it's not in-wall and it's not a tv, so I guess it's not similar at all. BUT it is one of those moving lit pictures of a beach scene. I would say that it doesn't conflict at all. The only thing I could see that may not totally work is the eye level of the t.v is it where it was before? I have no experience of flat panel t.v's do they still have the perceptual distortion? meaning does the picture not come in clear at certain angles? If all of that checks out, I would say it should work well. There may be a distraction between watching t.v and watching the tank. But that's ALL of us, when you watch t.v and your tank is in that room, how often does everyone glance over at the tank? You are just saving the neck strain :)

Reefer Head- I wasn't really cramped for space I just thought it might be cool cause I haven't seen anyone do it. The main reason is because the sump and tank will now be on concrete and I also have a drain back there, which will make for easy water changes and clean up. Paul- it is an LCD screen so no matter where you sit there is a clear picture, plus when comercials come on I can view my damn tank haha. The TV is actually at the ecaxt same height the only thing that changed was that I moved it a foot to the left. This is also the lowest tank I have had so far, but I don't expect that to be an issue either.

ah, what do I know? I look forward to seeing it all come together, should be cool.

BTW,

There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live

you beat me to it. This was my plan with my new 240 that im working on . Actually im still debating on lcd above the tank for a drop down screen infront of the tank and a projector ... but everyone tells me thats a bad idea.... as I will have to choose between the tank and the the tv.
