75 Gallon setup

Looking to set up my first reef tank (oceanic 75 - reef ready). Going to start easy (softies), but the goal is to work up to LPS, clams, etc as I gain experience.

Was planning to set up two 6000s on opposite sides of the tank (to be run in an alternating fashion).

Is this likely to be too much current? Any alternate suggestions for the equipment or suggestions for where the 6000s should be placed (back corners, front corners, middle of the sides, etc).

Many thanks in advance.

It might be too much. I ran a 75 with just 1 6000 and that was fine. I used it with a wavebox and was very satisfied with the results. The wavebox is great with soft corals because the look of them rocking back and forth is very natural.

So how would you set it up? I presume wavemaker is in back corner. Wavemaker and 6000 on same side of tank or opposite side? If on opposite side would you put 6000 in the back corner, middle, or front corner.

Thanks,
Neal

In my tank which is now a 120 but I had a 75, I have the wavebox centered on one side, this works for me because I have it next to the 3170 Calcium Reactor which is in the corner. It could go in the corner as well. I have the Stream pump in a Stream rock positioned in the front on the same side about 6" up in the tank on top of a short rock stack. My tank is barebottom (starboard) and I currently have a rose anemone, Turbinaria reniformis, T. peltata, several Zooanthid rocks, Ricordia florida, a large Maxima clam, a Blastomussa merletti, a half dozen Acanthastrea's and a related favia type LPS that i can't remember the name of. I have very pleased with the results with these animals. Only half the acanths are mine, I am babysitting them for a friend whose tank crashed and when they are out of my tank I will add some SPS and a couple leathers and a pipe organ.

Thanks.

Is there some place where one can download the manual for the wavemaker? Would like to know how it mounts as will have a canopy. Is this online anywhere? Did not find it on the Tunze site.

Thanks again,
Neal
