750g show tank (L shape)

lol the tank is not done yet but still I'm already thinking of wich fishes I will put in it... I'm so excited!!

we already have :
1x blue powder tang
1x emperator angel
2x yellow tang
2x blue hippo tang
2x multifasciatus angel (my personal favorite)
1x watanabei angel female
1x mate pair of ocellaris clown
and some more smaller fishes (don't worry we don't have all that in the 180g haha)

so I was thinking...

school of yellow tang let say 5 of different size
and 3 puprle tang

I would add 1 blue hippo tang, to make a trio.... I'll try as much as possible to have at least 2 of each fishes to make it more like in nature

maybe add 2 powder blue too... I'm not to sure about that

will add a watanabei to have the couple

will add a LOT of clown... I just love these little guys
- 2 platinum clownfish
- 2 Picasso clownfish
- 2 Naked clownfish
- 2 black and white clown
if I put a lot of ocellaris clown male with 1 female... do you think they will all live together, or some male will become female... probably the later :(

I'll put 1 sohal tang for sure
2 naso tang (if possible one male and one female)
and a regal angel (put in the first fishes to make sure he will eat)
and lot of anthias... a school of ventralis maybe some other too

oh and some butterlfy... I know they not reef safe but well I don't care lol

for the wrasse, I really like the flame wrasse so probably will go with a couple (male and female) and a mistery wrasse too

ok I'll stop now... you can give me suggestion if you want!

i have 2 per clowns (regular orange and black) and 2 ocellaris clowns (orange and black) one skunk clown and they all get along. 3 are male and one is female. i dont know what the skunk is, but its as big as the female. i also have a copperbanded butterfly in my 240. i dont have a lot of of corals, but i do have a few frags (less than 10) most are sps except the plate and candy's

i love this build.... keep it up. take pictures of everything. lol im not rushing but i like the build

right I forgot the pink skunk clownfish... I want a lot of them with a blue carpet anemone :)

the pictures will be there soon :)

Great build

Great build

Bonjour Tipou,

Wow great build start. CAn't wait to see what goodies you're going to come up for this system:cool: I'm taggin along for this ones that's for sure!

Where's the mermaid shot?:D

I'm not a fan of the "lots of clownfish" idea. Not only is it much more likely they'd fight, but it's also a likelihood that you'd end up stuck with pairs that weren't the same color scheme.

And if you put a lot of juvi. male clowns with a female, what'll happen is that the "happy couple" will end up killing the other clowns, one at a time. Clowns are relentless against their own kind, esp. in small groups.

thanks for all the reply :)

as for the clownfish... I'll of them will either be ocellaris or true percula (picasso and platinium are in fact true percula) and (naked, black and white are ocellaris) I don't mind the mixte and match... and I really think that in 750g all of them will be able to find is own territory without killing everyone

as for the pink skunk, I heard that's a clown that was a lot less agressive, so I could have more than 2 without problems... All of the clownfish would be put in the tank at the same time maybe this would help

but I will try to find more info on this... I don't want to put all these clownfish to watch the sea version of "mortal combat"

thank you for your input :)

now on the good stuff lol

we start to glue the tank!! all of the side panal are now done :D

some pictures... and yes the mermaid shot is there lol

:D :D :D

next, I'll told you all of the "little" thing will have on this beast you know like the skimmer and everything

My understanding is that mixed clown pairs almost never work out long term. They can pair up for a few months to a year, but eventually they will snap.

Even with the size I don't think I would try that many clown fish. Your just begging for a lot of fighting and death (IMO).

even if I put like All true percula? I mean, even if the color of the clown is not the same, it's still the same species

and I had a mate pair of clownfish for more than 5 years (the male was an ocellaris and the female was a true percula) but maybe I was just lucky... hmm have to rethink of the clownfish now! I don't want to choose! lol

if some of you had any experience with lot of clownfish please let me know

thank you wetwolger for your input

tipou, check out this thread. She has lots of clowns in the same tank for 2 years so far and has not lost a single one. It is a great thread. She has just a beautiful tank. If you stick to all percula than I don't think you will have problems. But that is JMO and not from any experience.

Wonderful pics, tipou!!! I can't wait to see what's next!

Here is the link:
27 Clowns in the same tank for 2 years

From that 27 clown thread:

No parents in the tank. All the Percs are from the same clutch. They have never been separated.

That is why she can have so many in the same tank. It is different when they were born like that, vs trying to be introduced into a new aquarium.

I don't mean to rain on the party....I just don't think a lot of clown fish are ever a good idea unless you have unique circumstances (they are breed and raised together).

here's the equipement we will have on this tank
please tell me what you think about them

- profilux III EX pro edition
- 2x 60"giesemann matrix 12 bulbs (hope it will be enough)
- ATI bulbs
- dimable ballast in the fixture

- skimmer 1x ap-1004 + probably the new model from Deltec

- 10x stream 6105
- 3x marinetech pumps (3200gph - 85watt)

- marinetech sump 72x36x16
- balling systeme (Fauna Marin)
- dosing pump GHL for the Balling method
- Marinetech balling canister
- Marinetech kalkwasser RMK 8 special edition, compatible with profilux

- media reactor (for carbon) deltec fr-616
- media reactor (for rowaphos) deltec fr-509
- sulfur reactor ( pf-501 modified by marinetech)

that's about it for now... what do you think??

We would like to see the instructions that Miracles gave you to glue the tank:)
Nice work! Hard to tell, but I assume you have a plate glued across the bottom seam of the mated "L" pieces of glass?

What is the thickness of the glass?

-you need little shim
- lot of silicone lol
- clam to hold everything
etc

they told us how to start (with wich panel)
it's wasn't so hard... but the 2 big panel are HEAVY!!!!

and yes we have a plate glued across the bottom of the mated L pieces of glass

just hope that everything will be ok when we'll put water in it... it our fist DIY tank!
