yes everything is going well
just have less time for the aquarium right now

only sad thing... the Imperator angel and the couple of multifasciatus eat more and more kind of coral (they eat our 2 bubble corals, and a couple of euphoria too )

so we have to make a decision... keeping the fishes and going for an aquarium with corals that they don't eat (ricordia, gorgonia, anemone, soft corals, clam (for now), etc)
or if we remove the fishes... (we really love them... so we will probably just add corals they don't eat)... I think we are able to make a really nice looking aquarium even if we don't have a lot of LPS corals... but the decision is not made yet

That's an easy one: Go with the fish! You can grow LPS in a separate system, but these fish are rare (and expensive) jewels to be treasured.

Simply an amazing tank!! I am currently in the design phase of our big tank, and reading thru your build and seeing the attention to detail and layout of your system has given me a whole lot of ideas.

I know this is a long shot, but do you happen to have a layout/blueprint of your equipment placement? I can probably recreate most of it by looking thru your pictures in more detail, but . . .

What is the size of the room the aquarium is in? Our current design has a 9' x 13' room not including the aquarium and I am afraid that it will be too small. (We are building our house around the aquarium and it's now or never on room size.)

Looking back through the past couple of years at the build process, is there anything you would change/add/remove from your current setup to make things easier to maintain?

update

so we liked the JNS skimmer... but we realize that it took all the space in the sump, so no more space for frags, harder to do water change, etc

so we will have a new skimmer!
J-F wanted to have an industrial skimmer since we don't have so much time to do water change and nitrates are getting high
but the style, or price wasn't ok for him so he decide to do it himself

So.... you started out with T-5's, and then went to LED's, and now your running HUGE MH reflectors.

Can you tell us some of the Pro's and Con's of each, and when ch you like the best so far?
(cant wait to see this new massive skimmer!!!!

well the T5HO were good, but we lost the shimmering effect with them
the LED... well the colors was fantastic but I think this kind of light is missing something
we didn't really realize it first but after we change for MH, we saw our clam becoming a lot more colorfull (see pictures)
right now we are using MH but we still use LED so we can do like a "sunset" and moon light since we can't do that with MH light

here's the clam under LED light... it doesn't have a lot of pattern on the mantle


and here's after 2 months under MH light

I have a question about those products. I have been reading about them and I am very interested in them. Are they available in the US?

Love your tank. I use a mix of MH and LEDs on my present setup but will be going full LED on my new build. Still researching for the right spectrum and color to be successful.

Newbie Aquarist : Yes we really love the Coral shop products, the Dispophos and nitraclean work really well!!

Dahenley : the reflectors we are using are the Hamilton Technology
and the bulbs are Radium 250w 20000k

(are you going to make a flange at the base of the skimmer body (or about 12" up)
or one at the transition?

that way you can get in there and clean periodically. (i doubt your arms are going to be long enough to reach in there haha i doubt mine would be long enough)

i like the PVC body!
(dont forget a drain valve on that baby! )

This tank and fish room are amazing. Simply love the way "the boyfriend" has handcrafted everything and made it all look beautiful. Awesome just awesome. And I see you are a multi owner. My "wife" and I,lol, love our multifasciatus only he is more disciplined in our reef. I find they mainly pick when live rock is newer and has less goodies for them to pick threw. Then they leave corals alone IME. Anyways awesome build
