Yes finally we will have our BIG tank too!!!! and not any big tank... THE BIG TANK!!

we're on this project for about a year now, trying to think of everythings, and now it's started!!

It's will be a L shape aquarium : 96x42x27 inch

here's the plan :

 ... the answer is yes... we're a little crazy hahaha

I'll post you more picture of our adventure in a minute lol

we fist decided to make the tank in acrylic... but after looking at the price, knowing that the acrylic would scratch more easily... and having a BIG deal with Miracle aquarium for the glass panel we make our final decision : it will be an ALL glass tank

also, we wanted to put 2 tunze wavebox... but after talking with Tunze, it seem that because of the shape it wouldn't work, so we will go with speed variable pumps to create the effect of wave

but first we have to make room for this tank!

that's the part I don't like... the place look like hell! but it's the price to pay to have a little part (well not so little lol) of the ocean in your home :)

after a couple of weeks, the room start to look better
one side of the tank will be in the living room (in the basement) and the other side will be in the computer room ;)

next, the stand :)

hmm I'm not sure what you mean by "eta"?
but if it's the approx date of the completion of the project, well in about one month all the equipement will be install (hopefully)

all of the picture I posted, are from some time now... I wanted to have something to show before starting this post hihihi

right now the tank is almost done :)

I think two waveboxes would work with this. If you had them both on the ends of the L pointed towards the corner and synced to run simultaneously, I think it would create a standing wave effect. An easy way to tell is to get two people to try to simulate this when it is full of water by dipping a bucket or some other large object in and out of the water and seeing if you can get a wave effect.

now the stand... we had a little trouble with that...
we made a mistake in our calculation... to make a short story... well they didn't pass through the door!

so we have to cut it in two, and weld together after (I was scare that we would loose solidity, but the way it was done, no worry!)

after the job done

the inspection teem is at work, looking at every details

it's all good... everything is purrrrfect!!

:D

since it's in the basement, and in a L shape... and 8 foot long we had to order the glass and glue everything on place... ourselves (that's the stressing part!)

two weeks ago we were schedule to receive the glass :D

at 7h30 am, we receive the lift with the extensions

now we wait!!....

Finally at 18h they arrive!!

looking if everything is in good shape

now we have to get them out of the truck, would'nt have been easy for my, but it was a piece of cake for my boyfriend... hard to tell there's a 750g tank hidden it that!

18h15 everything is done

look at the quality of the glass cut by Miracle!!

:D

Are you afraid of gluing the pieces yourself? Where did you get the instructions to do it?

well we were kind of afraid to do it ourselves... I mean, 750g we CAN'T do it wrong!!

but we had good instruction from Miracle and some friends that had been doing glass tank for some time now :)

more picture to come soon
