750g show tank (L shape)

what are you going to be looking for or testing to see the difference between the new skimmer verses the old?

you cant go for volume of skimmate removal because of the added water wash down, and also the difference in wet and dry skimmate.

are you going to be testing for say nitrate or phosphate removal?
or are you mainly going for dwell time and lower wattage by using just 1 pump?

sorry for the questions, but im just curious as to what your looking for.

Great video and build thread by the way.

I Have always loved your setup. I cant bielieve no one has asked for a video of your sump room? If possible could you make one? How are you liking the eco cooler? Thanks again for sharing..oh yeah I love your basement and style..

Truly amazing build. That skimmer is just awesome. What a great build, keep those pics coming.

And a sump room video sounds good!

Wow...I just spent the last 4 hours reading through this thread. What an inspiration! A person can only dream of a set up like this. Great job on the thread build sowing your steps. Thank you for sharing with us.

thank you all!!

sorry for not updating for a long time
we are still quite busy.... but the tank is doing very well and I'll try posting more pictures soon :)

in the meantime, you may want to look at the next issue of Reef Hobbyist magazine

little update
we were getting tired of cleaning the foam cover of our vortech pumps
if we don't put them, fishes may get stuck and when we put them if we don't clean them every couple of days the flow reduction is important

so here's what JF made :)

I think you better patent that idea quick. That is one of the best ideas I have seen for the vortec and maybe future power head attachments.

I have no problem with fish but when a anemone decides to go for a walk they get sucked right in.... So that's why I used them.... What you made is cool but if you made it to alter the direction it would be really cool....

I agree! I tried those foam pads in the past and they are a real pain. Plus an eyesore IMO. Great idea and very professional looking!

Interesting and cool... however .. the anemone can still crawl over the flanges and be sucked in....

Awesome idea for the vortechs. One question though, does it restrict any of the wide flow that you get from them? Is it a little more direct or no impact at all?
