75g -- 6060 Okay?

Alaskan Reefer

I've got a 75g mixed reef, with softies, LPS, and a couple of SPS. I've also got a mess of powerheads, cannisters, and spraybars producing a total of about 1700gph. If I take everything out but the skimmer and refugium powerheads (Rios producing a total of about 500gph) would the 6060 produce too much flow? My aquascaping might be helpful in the matter -- basically the tank is cut in half diagonally by a peninsula originating in the front left corner extending to the back right corner. A mount in the upper front left facing directly across the tank to the upper front right wouldn't directly hit anything -- all pressure the stream puts out forward would be bounced off the far wall before hitting anything. Substrate is 1" CC.

Will the 6060 be too much?

A 6060 would work but strongly consider the 6000. The wavemaking features, the electronic monitoring of the pump functions and the variable speed make them worth the money IMO. The 6060 cannot be used on anything but a timer with one hour intervals so wavemakers are out. Also- get rid of the rios- personal experience- trust me on this.

Roger -- something like this then?

I've read of the Rio problems. I'm going to upgrade the Remora Pro skimmer pump to Mag 3, 5, or 7 at some point, just don't know which is best -- and I don't know what pump beside the little Rio will fit the AquaFuge. They're both junk, and will soon be used to stir saltwater, along with the "power sweep" powerheads that I just had to have. :)
