75g Lurking danger and Leafy Seadragons

Well at noon today I began the transfer. It's 8:30pm and the old tank is out and the new tank is in its place. My husband and I love the longer look and how it fills in the space. I am still adjusting the salinity before any fish or coral go in. (They are all in the 20g L). The artwork really showed up spectacular under the lights and I was so happy and relieved! Hopefully tomorrow this will be finished up and it will have fish and coral. I will snap a pic of the completed project when I can.

George, It amazes me how much more room I have for future coral! It's the same rock but because I didn't have to use a lot of the rock's flat surfaces to build height in this lower tank, its available for coral! That's fun!

And the swimming room for fish! Oh boy, buying more fish is really going to be fun. It's going to be hard to be patient to let this tank settle and get stabilized but that is the plan. When I did tank transfers in the past I had little mini cycles for about 2 weeks and then everything was pretty much back to normal after that.

Thanks Reefing102. It's a seahorse statue with coral growing on it. It was made for the tall tank but works well in this tank too! For some reason the LPS are not adjusting near as well as the softies, puzzling. Everything seems good. The water column is clearing up nicely too.

I think I figured out the LPS (specifically the trumpets not opening fully). I think there was too much flow hitting them directly. There is so much open water and I am not used to that. I made an adjustment and I will watch and see if the trumpets are happier tomorrow.

Another thing I am noticing is Ozzie, my ocellaris clown seems lost. I took out all the nems and put them in the 20g in the cabinet, so he doesn't know where to call home.
 
The water column has cleared up nicely. Most of the coral are opening up but a few are still being temperamental. I am just gonna leave things be and hope they improve on their own. The fish have adjusted well and are swimming around like they have lived in this tank their whole lives. The last pic is the view my hubby and I have from our recliner sofa. The tv is to the right and the reef to the left,,,pretty nice view!

Today I lowered the ReefBreeder Photon fixture about 3" to optimize the light in the tank. The par is low at the ends of the tank but since I keep softies and LPS that is fine. The light loving coral will be near the center while the lower light coral will be at the ends.

Also I checked ammonia and none is detectable. I didn't really think there would be but thought I needed to do due diligence.
 
So near the end of the day, my last piece of aquascape arrived! It's actually the item that is central to my theme of 'Lurking danger'. What could be more peaceful than Leafy seadragons, right? But our aquariums can often be a balance between serenity and tension, satisfaction and discouragement. I wanted this display to reflect some of that dichotomy so both the mural and the aquascape have elements that hint of something less than peaceful. I will post pics hopefully tomorrow. Stay tuned!
