75g Plumbing

I am finishing up the plumbing on my 75g. I have the CPR CS102 overflow going to the sump and a magdrive 12 for the return pump. The over flow has 2 - 1" bulkhead that I plan on putting 1 1/4" PVC or flexible tubing on. (I heard bigger=less noise) Question: Should I have a ball valve on the overflow?

The Return pump will be 1/2" flexible tubing with a ball valve and union up to the top of the tank. From there, it goes to 1/2" PVC pipe and splits into 3 outputs using wye connectors (less restrictive than elbows) with each output having a ball valve and lockline.

Also, for water changes, I have a LARGE 55g trash can with heater, mag12 and powerhead to keep water at right temp and salt dissolved. The equipment will have the unions set up in such a way that I hook the new water to the return line and the overflow to a long hose leading to a drain. Question: What to do with the old water? Down the sink, tub or outside patio drain?

What do you think?!?!?!?! Please be an active forum. Please be an active forum.

A ball valve on the overflow is not needed. You can put one after the return pump to fine tune the flow through the overflow box.

My old water goes down the drain or toilet.
