75g Stand Project (Pics)

Hell ya dude. Looks realy good.
I'm not sure what lights you plan to run but you may want to cut out the back of the canopy for ventilation.

Going with MH for lights so i will have to do some work on the back for fans and stuff, I'll wait till the lights come for that.

The stain is actually two applied together. Its american cherry for the more reddish and early american for the brownish, i did it all in american cherry and it was nice looking but too red for our wood work. I then took a rag with early american and wiped a little on to brown it up

Awseome job - How are we convinced that vertical braces in the middle (front/back) are unnecessary?
I am looking to build a stand (~48x24) for a 120g tank.

i had that thought, thats why the tank sits on a plywood that sits on top of a 2x4 ring that is doubled up and laminated together with glue and screws. Once the sump is installed i will add a center rear brace just for good measure but it will be removable and just screwed in place. I don't think its need on this stand but it also is cheap insurance so why not

You could consider 2x6's for the top part of the stand if you wanted to do away with either the rear or front center brace.
