Hey folks,
I'm getting ready to setup my 75gal tank. . . (paying the mortgage is taking the chunk out of the budget so it's a slow process)

Anyway - what fishies do you suggest I have?

I was thinking a pair of perculas, hippo tang, flame angels (maybe a pair??), coral beauty, some anthias. . .

Would you guys suggest any other fishies? Or modify my list?

I'm planning on keeping corals too so they have to be reef safe. :D

I would NOT put a hippo into a 75 gallon tank, it is much too small and would not provide a long-term home for it. The Coral Beauty may or may not be reef safe. Mine was fine for about six months until it decided to eat any and every coral in the tank and turned into a complete terror. I was more than happy to give her away. And I don't think anyone is going to recommend mixing Flame Angels in a 75 either. But the perculas with be just fine :)

"Mixing" angels is *very* different from "pairing" them. There's no truth to the myth that you can't have two pygmies in a tank... it's odne all the time... you're just rolling the dice that they'll take to one another. If not, they'll fight. And one will likely die. If so, they'll do just fine.

Funny thing - Michael Scott just spoke to our group on what you can keep in a nano.

I guess I can't keep a hippo tank - :(

I like the:
Whitecheek Surgeonfish (reef safe?)

I would stick to the Ctenochaetus genus of Tangs. These are the Bristletooth guys that don't get as large and don't require as much swimming space. The Kole, Tomini, and my personal favorite (because I have one) the Two-spot tang. These are all great fish who are active and friendly. Here is some information on them:

Here is mine the day I got him at only 2":

I have a pair of Tri Color Anthias in my 75 , along with a yellow Tang, Sailfin Blenny , and a Physc Mandrin. Tanks been up for a couple years and all seems well. Nix the angel. Blazer is right. My Coral Beauty touched nothing for 6 months then all of a sudden he decided to turn my tank up-side down. Live and learn huh!
