7in Maxima Clam

So is this a maxima clam? My old post someone said they didnt think it was. The clam doesnt have the scutes on the sides like maximas ive seen.

Nope that's a gorgeous Tuamotu Maxima. They are just starting to be imported. Live Aquaria just got a big shipment of them and will start to pop up on Diver's Den, all are 5+ inches though. Blue Zoo had a few up for sale... I think one is left. You can reed more about them at Please do not link to other forums.

It really was not that expenxive, deff well worth it. I do want to get a hold of another larger clam lik 10in+.

Thankyou i looked into the maxima your talking about and it seems that slowly everyone is getting stocked with them. Do your research though i got mine for $200 and other sites all have them for $300+.

It seems ridiculous that we have to go to these lengths to get around moderation to simply provide information that people request.

Oh, I wouldn't intentionally visit ANY other site...it is just that a certain search engine (uh, rhymes with 'oogle') directs me to other sites once in a while. Not my fault.

vivid aquariums has about half a dozen or so now in their wysiwyg section.

I had this post up before and i mentioned trying to trade or sell it and they removed my whole post. They are very strict.

I got mine for cheap, that vivid aquarium is expensive. Though the picture is exact they dont look as good in the tank. Like this clam is more blue than purple and all those patterns can only be seen if you look at an angle from the top. The orange is also not as ornage as the picture. That shot was taken from on top of the clam in like 9in of water under awesome lighting.

Some of these other sights use so much blue light and touch ups that even the grey shell is purple blue making the mantle look crazy colors. They are nice clams and great sizes. Im trying to still get my hands on a bigger clam if anyone knows.
