8/19/2006 SCMAS presents it's 3rd annual Reef-A-Palooza

I might bring one frag, we'll see if I can get it without doing any damage to the surrounding corals. It is a think cluster, but I have fragged it before. I might take some more pics before the event also.... The tank is looking especially good since I dropped my alkalinity down to 8. Amazing how my colors exploded, when I started dropping the alk. Alk is now 8 and ca is 480, dropping the photoperiod from 11 hrs to 9 w mh lowered the ca consumption also, so all I need to run now is my calc reactor.

I also have a yellow w light blue tip acrpora for $20 ( wild frag that grew into a colony )Picked it up on one of my frag excursions to the LFS. Blue tips finally starting to come out. Base is also an encrusting light blue on edge.

I got to see some pics of these acros...The yellow with blue tips sounds cool....

It is a neat colony, a clustering acropora, the blue tips come out when it is happy. I'll take new pics and post them soon.

Has any hobbyist that plans on settup up shop, received any directions from SCMAS/ReefAPalooza organizers?

ie what time to show up?
can we drive up, offload stuff and then go park?
etc

I ask because this is not being conducted as your typical frag swap and I've already encountered some strange policy directives regarding shade canopies, etc

Chris

Hey Chris
I have not recieved any instructions, I was just going to try an attend the meeting on Fri. and just ask there. I will be staying in Orange so its close by.
But, instructions for those attending would be nice, Greg told me set up should be around 9:30am but I guess he will be out of town.

Vince

Hey Vince.
at least you got some info.

Info for the rest of us would be great, especially if we can't make the meeting on friday evening.
Otherwise, I'll show up when and how I want to.

Chris

PS I have membership request into a couple differnet SCMAS/Reefapalooza yahoo groups in the hopes that the messages there may shed some light.
Be best if there was some clear direction in one place, rather than speculations scattered about the internet.

Just received this from the SCMAS president himself!

Chris,

Anyone who needs booth space to sell, trade, or whatever can come over and set up after 8:30 Saturday morning. Anyone else, we'll see you after 11:00. Cross your fingers everything goes smoothly!

Marc

REEF-A-PALOOZA UPDATE:
The booth size is 10'x10'. These booths will be shared by local reefers selling frags. It will include a 6' table and electricity will be available, however you will need to provide your own extension cords. The weather has been nice in Anaheim. We still ask that if you have an EZ-Up canopy, please bring it.

You may arrive for set-up as early as 8:30 am. The event starts at 11:00 am and we would like all of the set-up completed by then.

Any additional reefers need not reserve a space to sell. You are welcome to sell and swap freely as there should be adequate space to accomodate everyone.

The raffle should be out of this world including at least 3 MH lighting systems (Sunlight Supply, JBJ, and HelloLights), at least 3 protien skimmers (AquaC and EuroReef), nanocube, and other hardware from Hamilton, USA Currents, Tunze, Eheim, ......... And of course lots of frags. Have a fun time and enjoy SCMAS's Reefapalooza.

after setup could we stick around or do will we have to leave and come back?

I will be manning the SCMAS booth at the entrance with the frag tank, and water and can tell you where your space will be. you will not have to leave after getting your stuff set up, but we may recruit you to help out a little. :-)

FYI, I'm bringing 25+ pounds of charcoal, a 36" T-5 Tek light, a refractometer, a TDS meter, and a lot of other misc. test kits and other reef stuff.

It's the 6 x 39w light = 234 watts. I'd take $150 and that's a steal. I have the cable hanger for it too. Over $500 invested. I just want it out of my tiny condo :D
