8*39W T5HO enough for ritteri or gig?

wanna do the following

ATI dimmable Powermodule 36" 8*39w

my tank is 40L*30W*20H

bulbs are

3 giesemann midday 6000K

2 giesemann aquablue plus 11000k

2 giesemann actinic plus 22000k

1 kz fiji purple for visual effect

but i read some thread that said a mag need a point source of light produced exclusively by MH and T5 lighting is more evenly spred on the tank. the posts also said such even lighting will result in more frequent move of a mag

if so, i decide to stop upgrading my mh system

There is probably some truth to that. I keep all my anemones under MH's for that reason. Mag's have been kept under T5's without issue though. You can reduce the odds of them moving by placing them on a smooth rock island, surrounded by sand, with chaotic flow just above them. If they can detect a path to higher ground they are likely to bolt even under MH's.

now im more hesitant to make choice

dimmable t5 effect is very alluring but i am really ritteri/gig maniac

besides, the ati is almost drainin up my wallet but the vertex illuma or other led sets cost much much more

Plenty enough light.. I've got mine way down..

The maxspects have proven enough light. They are about to come out with a new version which means you can find a deal on the G2 shortly.. There are other LED option as well. Not the cheapest but when you take out bulb replacement it starts to level out.

dont mean to offend and really appreciate your words but most of the feedbacks of naxspects seem kinda negative.

i personally prefer vertex illuma or reefbrite but they are really costy even given the long lifespan of bulbs

I keep my ritteri in a 75gl under 6x54W T5HO. 3 Geissemanne Aquablue+, 2 Actinic +, and one True Actinic. While it used to move around a lot it's stayed in the same location for around a month now. I managed to move it during a water change from the top of the glass to a high rock. Seems to be extremely healthy, and it doesn't hurt that two perculas are hosting in it.

Not offended at all.. I own the vertex Illumina 260.. It is a monster, and $$$.. I have a good friend with an SPS tank set up with the G2 maxspects and I really like them.

I guess sometimes I just feel like people over estimate the importance of light with anemones. It is water quality that is by far most important IMO. Ive seen healthy SPS tanks and tanks with Gigs/Mags in them that have all sorts of different lighting.

I have had my ritteri under 8X39 tek fixture (modded with fans) for about a yr. He is doing great, HIGH, HIGH flow area and about 3/4" up the tank.

That is definitely enough for a mag. And, I've had 3 under T-5 since last October and they haven't moved at all. That point source business seems to be bogus, based on my observations. I personally wouldn't mix a gig and a mag in a tank that size, however.

but now i desire more to have a ritteri that i just tried once before

Oh, that's cool. They do sit high up. Mine only ball up right after the lights go out. I almost never see them do that at other times. They are nice anemones, and hardy once they're established. I don't expect you will have a problem with them moving unless the water quality is off or the flow is too low. Those have been the times in the past when mine moved, and I've had the same ones for years.

I keep my Gigantea under DIY LEDs (18 - 9CW and 9RB) with 20 degree optics to really focus the light on a 40gal breeder. I did this instead of a halide i had to lower energy costs. It ended up being a cheap project ~$200 for everything, versus buying a AI or something for ~$700 :eek1:. This one was completely bleached when i picked it up my my LFS.
