what do you guys use for your setup?

Right now I have 4 blue and 4 coral plus. I am thinking of going to 6 blue and 2 coral plus.

I love the really blue look but also want good growth for my SPS, mostly tenius and milles

yup im in the same exact boat just with 2 extra bulbs. I am thinking a 6 blue and 2 coral plus will give off a ton of par, and a great blue look

I use the following ATI tube combination:

front

blue+
coral+
actinic
abs
purple+
blue+
coral+
blue+

I get good colouration and very good coral growth. In my opinion, if you use more than four blue+ tubes, reflective colours will look washed out/dull. I used to use 5 blue+ and 3 coral+.

Cheers

thanks! When you say reflective colors, what exactly do you mean by that?

Reflective colours are non-fluorescent colours. For example, in my tank, purple does not look vibrant under blue+ and thus looks extremely dull. Here is an example:

Under heavy blue illumination (blue+ and actinic):

Under 5B+ and 3C+:

Under 3B+ 1P+ 1 ABS, 2 C+ 1 Actinic:

Just go with the combo you like best. A lot of times people will give away their used bulbs so you can experiment. I have gone several different routes and all have had good growth. Great fixture

Mine,

Blue+
Coral+
Blue+
Purple+
Blue+
Blue+
Abs
Blue+

I do not quite like actinic as it puts some colors off. I am ok with the actinic output from the blue+ bulbs which I find is sufficient to pop the fluorescence in my tank.

I use this exactly the same order too, but I use a fourth blue instead of the ABS.

I am running 10,000k look with my ATI sun power 8 x 80w - very white look.
Very hard to hide brown corals.
4 blue plus
2 AB special
2 Purple plus

That's not 10k but nice combo anyway. Personally I like the whiter combos for the reason Discus mentioned. Not all corals fluoresce and some look better under white light. Blues purples and reds are non existent under heavy blue light. My 2...

That's what I have used. Recently took out the ABS and replaced it with an LED tube.

@Seachange -- Your tank is so grown in for a second it looked like a nano! How old is your system? Looks quite mature and wonderfully grown in.

@DiscusHeckel -- Like your color representation. I'm running 3 b+, 2 c+, 1 Actinic also. I think the 3/2/1 really brings a balanced look to the eye. The P+ & ABS def don't hurt, it looks like they absolutely help round out the spectrum in that 3/2/1 i've grown to love so much.

I'm running a 6x24

Front to Back
Coral+
Blue+
Blue+
Coral+
Actinic
Blue+

This is a blueish look but fairly balanced. The single actinic seems to function like a 'soft purple', because to my eyes in a 6 bulb fixture Purple+ is overpowering. Hard to say what I would use with 2 more bulbs, but i'd start with a Purple+ and ABS to see how works. My second option would be a GE 6500k and another Actinic, kinda unorthodox but corals love that 6500k. It's like crack for their zooxanthellae

Here are some pics for you of what my color looks like (these are a little dull compared to in person, but that's because I suck at camera).

really appreciate the replies from anyone, helps me out a lot. after doing some more research and looking at the pictures from your guys setups and this video. I am going to go with the bulb combo that discus and some others have. If anyone else is still looking to make their own, this video below helped me out a lot too which what each bulb puts out.
