8 line flasher wrasse

Their is also speculation that Copper will kill benificial organisms which live within the digestive system of fish (Tangs in particular)

Remember, at certian concentrations Copper is Toxic to Any Living organism.

Well my eightline is responding well to hypo. He's eating well and swimming all over. He still has some spots but looks better and better everyday.

Great to hear Brett. If all goes to plan I'll be moving my two eightlines and my blue flasher to the DT maybe this week.

Im pretty jelious, this is gonna be kind of long haul now. No complaints though, all three seem really well today. Even the potters eye looks better but unfortunetely I dont think that eye will ever work again. He doesn't seem to mind too much though and is best buds with the kuiters.

Awesome...sounds like you're moving in the right direction.

PIA was showing off some Red Tails today on Facebook. I really want to get one of the females but I'm trying to be good for a bit, haha.

deja vu?

i figured what's the fun in having just one female?

please excuse the bad phone pics

My female from NYA has become skittish the last few days but it could be in relation to me adding new fish from LA on Friday morning. She did come out to check me out when I got home earlier and I was able to look over her over well and she still looks good.

Can't believe almost all the NYA 8 lines didn't make it. From the sounds of it my female is one of the few left out there from them.

One of our males from NYA is still alive which is amazing considering the condition he was in when he arrived. I've been using hypo to treat for ich and he had been looking good til a day and a half ago. He started hiding and not wanting to eat and I could see a mucous coating near his gill area. I don't think it's velvet, maybe brook? I've given him a couple of baths and today he is swimming around and interested in food.

I called national fish pharmacy and ordered quinine sulfate. It should be here tomorrow morning. The gentleman I talked with told me to raise the salinity from 1.009 to 1.013 before starting the treatment. It's at 1.012 now, so almost there.

I have to say this little guy definitely has the will to live...

Wanted to update the thread with a few pics. After seeing the fish through my 200mm lens zoomed all the way out it looks as if she might have ich, but I'm not sure. What do you think? Here are some of the two, the bigger one coming from NYA and the smaller from LA. I think the larger is turning male, what do you think?

The bigger one is looking like a male to me... I'm not sure about the ich from your pictures, but there is definitely something on the larger fish's fins. Is the larger one from NYA? If so, I would definitely keep a close eye on it as both ours and Brett's came in with it.

The larger one is from NYA. I'm starting to pull water from the tank and allowing my top off to replenish to slowly drop the salinity to start hypo.

This stinks, I was hoping to be able to put them in the DT soon, haha

I received a female from DD yesterday and she was floating today. Wanted one since I saw a picture in Baensch Marine Atlas. Must not take shipping well even when done by the best in the business.

It is overdosing, but there is very little margin of error with cupramine compared to coppersafe (IME)

Copper burn is worse than ammonia burn. Cupramine works, dont get me wrong, just IME it is much more toxic than other medicines out there. We use coppersafe and Quinine.

Any test kit will work for coppersafe.

It is for this reason that I purchased a Hach electronic copper tester.

Man, so sorry to hear this aznepydna.

I'm still hoping for the best for our little man. Our order from National Fish Pharmacy was inadvertently shipped UPS ground, so they are shipping a new package overnight tonight. I'm glad I called to check since it should have been here already. He is eating and swimming around, but today his little head and face have re-erupted with cysts. I managed to snap a pic of him today with the macro lens (he hates the flash, so hid in the corner) . You can clearly see the damaged area where his ventral fin used to be. Depending on how he's doing this evening, we may give him another bath.

Very sorry to hear about your eightline. I received 3 wrasses from LA on Tuesday the two smaller ones were DOA. Then ordered 2 replacements from LA and 2 eightlines from DD for delivery today and all the orders are delayed getting into the local hub. It's been sitting in the local fedex hub since 9am and with this cold weather in the northeast I'm not sure how well all the fishes will handle it.

The sad part is that I finally got a chance to buy 2 females without having to sit in front of a computer and fighting other people to complete the checkout. I didn't see any being available yesterday on DD but hope DD will have more coming. When PIA had the pair I never even saw it on their web and it was gone.

Thanks. Just got off the phone with Fedex the pkgs are still sitting at the local so asked them to put it on hold and I'm heading out he door now.
