8 line flasher wrasse

So my friend not sure how you are going to tell me it dosent work.

Do your own research and look up the life cycles of ich and velvet if you don't believe me. Often times velvet is missdiagnosed as ich. FW dips only cause velvet cycsts (attached more than 24 hours) to drop off, not ich. In hypo ich cannot survive after it has fallen off of the fish, but velvet can (in water from 3ppt to 45ppt in salinity.) Another thing is that some fish produce an apparent immunity to ich and velvet and this is the reason so many people claim that these Reef Safe ich treatments work. If a fish feels better after a FW dip then it had some type of parasite (like velvet or flukes) that are affected by FW dips.

The 2 females I got from Live Aquaria although they were not wysiwyg. They did come from the same facility as the divers den stuff though(Rhinelander WI).

Mines still alive and eating but still has a bunch of spots. He's in with two leopards though so I went the hypo route. I do think its Ich as oposed to velvet but Ill keep you guys posted on how it all goes. The Leopards (one of which has been in there longer than the eightline and also came from NYA) are showing zero signs of anything and are eating like champs. I hope things turn around and they all do alright.

A great treatment for both ICH and odinium is quinine sulfate at nationalfishpharm . com

We use it once and a while. It will kill the whole life cycle of ich, and isn't as dangerous as copper, AND you only need to use it for 7 days.

Might be something to look at for those of you still having trouble (or plan on buying new fish!)

While on the topic of QT, what are the main meds that people use as prevention for new fish besides copper? Are most people using quinine sulfate?

I use chloroquine phosphate purchased through Fishman Chemical. It is an antimalarial/protozoicide like quinine. The dose is 10mg/l according Goemans & Ichinotsubo. Be careful not to overdose. Also works well for Brooklynella &. Oodinium. Unfortunately, they only sell in bulk & the minimum is 1 kg@$185

be very very careful with cupramine. It will burn the gills of most tangs without you even noticing. they will then start to spin in circles and die. I find coppersafe to be extremely successful against ICH in a small system (under 400 gallons). It is expensive compared to cupramine though, but for a QT the small bottles from pet co will work out fine.

What brand test kit are you using to test levels of Coppersafe?

I've never heard of Cupramine affecting tangs. Never seen an issue with any fish. My two Achilles just went through Cupramine. Don't ever use any type of water conditioner or certain meds as it will turn cupramine 10x more toxic.

It is overdosing, but there is very little margin of error with cupramine compared to coppersafe (IME)

Copper burn is worse than ammonia burn. Cupramine works, dont get me wrong, just IME it is much more toxic than other medicines out there. We use coppersafe and Quinine.

Any test kit will work for coppersafe.
