8' shallow tank, 2-6105...can I make a wave??

GrouperGenius

Liscensed Unit
My recent build is 96 x 30 x 18 tall. There's 3" of sand and 1.5"-2" of lost water space due to overflow. Leaving 12.5" of water column. I have 6105's one on each end turned all the way down and pointed up to keep from stirring the sand.

If I had a controller, could I make a wave in that depth or would I have to go with a wavebox?

It would probably make a wave, though it will be shorter and the pumps aren't really made for it so they will click on start up.

No, the wavebox is designed for rapid on and off, the 6105 is not and it clicks if very rapidly cycled.

Will the clicking damage the 6105's? Or perhaps I could ramp them from 30% to 80% as an alternative?

It won't damage the pump and there is a work around, it requires a couple disks and they will have to be readjusted every few months.

Hi Roger,

are the disks used in this work around genuine tunze's spare parts? if yes, could you please inform on their part number? are these the same disks as those used in 6055 drive unit's work around solution? (I've both 6055 & 6105 streams)

thanx in advance!

The 6055 solution is not a workaround, it is a permanent manufacturing change as this same pump is in the Nano Wavebox. The 6055 need 6025.740 and 6055.700. The 6105 needs 2* 6065.792. This is a workaround because this pump was not designed for wavemaker use and a better solution causes the pump to draw more power and would limit it to only wavemaker use. In a few months we should a wave only Stream 2.
