8 to 10 month solitary Clarki, male or female?

I have a 4 year old female clarki that I would like to find a mate for. The LFS has a captive breed 1.75 inch clarki that looks really nice, but it has been in a tank solo for 2 months. Is it male or has it already changed to female? I thinks it is around 10 months of age. Obviously if it is already female, I would not bring it home. But if it is probably still male, I'll get it. Any opinions?

It's still pretty small, especially for clarki...might still be a male.

Should definitely be female by now. Clowns in solitude change to female and the process can be in as little as one month. I wouldn't try it. I would get one less than an inch just to be on the safe side.

Thanks, You are probably right. If I didn't have a pair of Tomato's in my other tank I would get it anyway.
