8020 T-Slot

Grizzled & Cynical
Anyone with experience working with this stuff? I really need to redo my light hood. Partly to try to make it a bit lighter and also to replace a few plywood cross struts that are sagging. Is the t-slot stuff pretty workable? I assume it can be cut on a chop saw with a bimetal blade? Does it hold up? Thanks in advance.

I love it.. and use it all the time (well Misumi's version of it anyways).. Yes you can cut it with a miter saw (carbide blade on mine). Very durable..very strong and will hold up just fine.

I call that stuff Adult Legos..

I saw a thread where the poster was using the 1 3/4 x 3 3/4 T slot to Build a stand. I used it for my light stand but never would have thought to build an aquarium stand with it. I'd want to know more about the tensile strength before setting up a tank. Super easy stuff to work with.

OK, thanks, that's very helpful. Ebay site for 8020 calls it 'the industrial erector set'. May have to get a new blade, though. What tooth count on your carbide if I may ask?
