90 Gal reef for the girls.

I finally got around to drilling another hole in the fuge for a overflow to the sump incase the overflow to the 125 ever becomes clogged or fails for some reason.

Now that I can keep the overflow to the 125 fully submerged I do not get any bubbles in the tank and some pretty good flow to boot.

I'm still getting way to many bubbles in the first chamber of the fuge so I have an idea I'm going to try tomorrow to eliminate those. If I can do that then I'll be ready for some macro algee, the light and finally put this chapter to bed.

I don't really like what I had to do to get there.

I think the macro algae is going to raise hell with the filter sock and try to grow into it. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I was asking what the temperature is staying at with all the lights he has on all the tank's
I haven't had a problem with th temp at all. It stays at a constant 78. I can't even remember the last time I heard the chiller come on. I think the central AC in th house helps out a lot also.

I got around to making a swivel mounting bracket for the fuge light.

I had a 80/20 knuckle bouncing around my tool box forever and I scrounged up some 80/20 extrusion, turned, drilled, tapped, and counter bored a piece of aluminum and made this bracket.

Anyone know what micron rating fiber floss is?

I notice that my FF picks up a lot of detritus, that is why I use it. The filter bags will do the same thing, becoming nitrate traps. I was wondering, I notice uneaten food, mainly floating pellets, caught in the sump/fuge, that roll over the overflow and down. That will get caught up in the filter bags. How easy are the bags to get to to clean? What is your maintenance regimine going to be?

I'll change out the socks every week when I doa water change. I've con two weeks before but they get pretty clogged up by then.

I was told if you wash them with just bleach on the long cycle and then run them through the long wash cycle again with just water that they will be fine. I think you can use to much bleach also and run into problems. I think Norm had that problem if I remember right. I've only washed them once so far and they seemed to be ok. I also turn them inside out and power spray them with the garden hose to knock the heavy stuff out of them. I let them drip dry and put them in an empty salt bucket until I'm down to my last two then I wash them all at the same time.

I have 10 of the large socks and 2 of the little ones. I need to pick up some more little ones so I'm not running the washer for two little socks.

Yeah my woman washed them with to much bleach and killed off some corals. :( I just do water and they are as clean as when I bought them. They work great. I have to switch mine out every two to three days or they are running over the top. I bought a bigger one from Shannon (spelling??) at Scott's one day. Came with the bracket and I got some extra ones from Scott. The big ones are awesome on my 180.

I got the wall up today with the help of a custom homebuilder friend of mine.

LOL! Wow, you got really busy after I left yesterday.
Yep it's go time now. Gotta lot of stuff to do before next weekend.

Tim that light bracket is off the hook. I am constantly very impressed with the do-hickies and Thingamajigs you come up with on the fly.

Thanks man, when you're forced to play with metal and plastic for 12 hours a day it lets me kind of figure out how to do some things. I wish I didn't have to work for Da Man so I could make more and better things.

I Think I Can I Think I Can

Finished up the mudding and got the wall textured.

Also got the second coat of clear on the door and trim.

Hey Tim - when are you starting the side business of gadget creation? I could use a fabricated holder for my many probes. A small shelf offset in the sump with guest fittings allowing me dose directly into the sump.

You can call it "Tim's Store of Aqua Wonders"
