yeah i know it's "reef" central so what am i doing with a fowlr tank but i'm going to do it anyways. so yeah i was on a website that people post free things on and i came across one that was for two free tanks so of course i called them right up and was there today. they didn't know how much the tanks held or what the full dimensions were but they said that it was big. so i got there and went in to see it: covered in five year old algae and salt deposits. after a lot of hanging up clip-on lights to illuminate the dark basement i saw it: my new tank(s). One was huge, i guessed 120 at first but then realized that it was too short for that and figured out that it is a 90 gallon. the other tank there was a 40 breeder but one of the panels was broken and the trim was falling off so i didn't take that one. after some interesting maneuvering we were able to get it out of the basement and into my car. it is now in my house and I've been trying to clean it out with water and vinegar. i have the front panel and the left panel done and they have actually cleaned up really well. now here comes the planning and speculation: what am i going to do with it? i would love to do a reef but i really can't afford another one and also i like a lot of puffers and such that cannot go in a reef so i decided that it would be FOWLR. I was planning on the following eqiupmet:
29 galllon tank sump
dc-400 return: http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/waveline-dc-pumps-gen2
skimmer: http://goo.gl/hxCT2E
light: http://www.aquatraders.com/48-inch-4x54W-T5-Aquarium-Light-Fixture-p/52305.htm
flow (X2): http://www.amazon.com/Jebao-WP-25-Wavemaker-Controller-800gph-2000gph/dp/B00ED47MHI
since the tank is tempered glass and i can't drill overflow box: http://www.eshopps.com/products/overflowboxes/pf1200/
live rock (180 lbs as prescribed by tbs) http://www.tampabaysaltwater.com/liverock/index.html
sand (Fiji pink): http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=7318
reefkeeper elite: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reefkeeper-elite-plus-digital-aquatics.html
heater ( 2X 150 watt) : http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=23952
Fish:
1) Yellow tang or bristletooth tang
2)saddleback butterfly
3) flame angel
4) 2 leopard wrasses or a dusky wrasse
5) 2 occelaris clowns
6) valentini puffer
How does this look for a final stock list? What order would you go about adding these fish after tank is well established/stable with CUC?
yeah thanks any input/ suggestions/ alterations are appreciated. i still have a ways to go until fill up but that should leave time to work all these problems out early. thanks again!
