90 Gallon - Suggestions

Well I got a 90 gallon in the works and I really need to start focusing on getting set up instead of sitting back and watching it sit in my garage. Here is what I think im going to do and im completly open to suggestions/changes and ideas. I still have about two months before it is set up if I start now. (Note on the bottom are items not purchased yet, Ideas on if they will be enough or work would be appreciated)

90 Gallon Reef Tank

Custom 20 long sump/refugium
1 Koralia 2
110 â€"œ 120 lbs of Live Rock Cured Already in my 55 gallon tank
Going to use some old sand then new sand how many pounds?



Fish List:
(2) Yellow Stripe Maroon Clownfish
(1) Coral Beauty Angel
(1) Pink Spotted Watchman Goby
(1) Sleeper Banded Goby
(1) Algae Blenny
(1) Kole Tang
(1) Radiant Wrasse

Invertebrates:
Numerous snails
Numerous Hermits

(1) BTA

Some kind of brain

Still looking to get:

Lighting â€"œ 48” 6x 54 Nova Extreme Pro T5 (enough?)(where have you bought yours how much?)

Skimmer : Open To Suggestions

Power Heads â€"œ Another Koralia 3 (That enough?) I also have a generic ph that ill place behind all rock work to keep the back moving.

How come every post i post on this website never gets any responses at all but I watch people answer every other person questions instantly? I try to give as mcuh info as possible yet never get any answers for my questions on this website?

Ok a few things things:

Get a bigger sump. I have an 85 gallon with a 30 gal sump and it's just big enough. Get the biggest size sump you can fit under your tank. Plus, the more sump the space the more filtration you can have-bigger skimmer, bigger refugium space.

1 Koralia 2 will not be nearly enough flow. You need a minimum of 20 times turnover. that's about 5 times in the sump and 15 in the display. I have 2 3's and in my brother's 90 there are 2 4's.

Also be bit more tactful when requesting advice . I usually just say something like "does anybody have any input on this?" or "any advice, I could really use the help!" Being negative is a sure way to discourage responses (and a way to invite less tactful responses lol jk SmoknReefer )

thanks fender and i do always try the let tactful approach but never worked i guess like the hobby patience is a must in the forums to.

- That lighting sounds good for what you are planning to keep.
- Fish list looks workable. Add the clowns, angel and tang last.
- The amount of sand you get depends on what you are trying to achieve. Do you want a deep sand bed or a shallow one? I run shallow in my tanks, and I'd guess that one bag is more than enough to cover a 90g if that's what you want to do.
- You'll definitely want more flow. A couple of Koralia 4's as fender suggested would be a good start.

Yeah I know where you're coming from-it's frustrating sometimes when you really want to know an answer but it feels like everyone's skipping over your question. When patience fails that's when you get persistent . Just keep bumping the thread over and over again by asking "any advice?" "any iput?" "any ideas?" so on and so forth. That's worked for me too when I don't get responses.

Of course I'm not very patient when I want an answer so I usually start doing this a few hours after I've not gotten one lol.

Also, keep us posted on how the build goes!

yea thanks fender I guess I have no patience when it comes to that cause im waisting them all on the tank it self. Nothing good comes quick. Yea when it comes closer to actually build time when the weather warms up and I can build the stand/canopy Ill make a thread with lots of pics. It going to be my first attempt at it all so I am looking foward to all the responses on how to make it better while im actually building it rather then later after it is already done.
