900 gal setup help

I have a black back and it blend in pretty good. I have it on the left back corner. Yes I do work from 10AM to 11AM....:-)

Back to klviper tank it's depend on what do you want to keep for your tank. Of course to set up a softy,LPS will be different from SPS. But for my experience you always want to upgrade so if you plan out better then you will save more money in the future since when you upgrade your old equipment will lost 50% of their value.

That's why it's good to have a bunch of us jump in and give you input then you can narrow down to what fit you best.

the pump in the orginal wavebox is a 6201 but with a different transformer so the out put is not equal to 6201 stream. I have a long tank so I need more power so I order my wavebox with the 6201 transformer to get more power. It's still pulse with the wavebox controler 6091. Jonathan will try with a 6301 since his tank is 1000gal but he will build a bigger box to house the 6301.

Ohh ok well my waveboxes have the 6261 stream pumps and I have the 6200 transformers on mine. So I guess mine are "supermod" waveboxes and I didnt know it. hmmm........

Thanks for the input anthony. I will prob do the 6201's but start out with two. Based on your input would it be smart to do on one overflow>skimmer>sump>return and the other overflow>skimmer>refuge>sump>return.
Since I am not doing sps a lfs is leading me towards doing all t5's no halides? sounds good in practice (lower cost-less heat-lower operating cost) but don't know if it is something I am going to regret. Thoughts?

I went all T5's on my tank - 180g - for the electricity savings. On a big tank like yours, you would need a lot of T5's to light it, especially since it's 30" deep. You'd have to figure out how many T5's you want and compare that to halides. It may be closer than you think.

I miss 2 aspects from halides - more natural looking, and the shimmer. Something for you to think about in your lighting decision.

no regret with T5. Actually with T5 your par might be greater than halide on certain part of your tank since the light bulb go across the whole tank. SE halide roughly concentrate more in the middle of the reflector.

With T5 you can actually have a greater combination color bulb in your set up purple,blue,white,pink....ect. So therefore your coral might have look better since they have all the color spectrum.

You give me hope Anthony. So you're saying my coral color might be better than my Sensei's colors??

How many over flow do you plan to have? If you have 2 then 1 go to your sump and the other go to your skimmer and skimmer out put go to sump. Regarding the return pump with my set up my return pump have 3 outlet.
#1 back to the main tank
#2 go to chiller then to frag tank then gravity overflow back to sump.
#3 go to 2nd skimmer then output skimmer back to sump.

BTW are you going to run 2 skimmer?

Haha Terry you are too modest. Color will come in time if you have a good routine and stick to it. Some people make change too much and too quick therefore their corals don't have enough time to adjust.

Trust me I saw some incredible T5 tank.

I'm being patient. My coral has started to color up this past week. I started feeding heavier since I added my Anthias. Have you seen Iwan's T5 tank? Beautiful!

So, klviper, you can get some beautiful coral. But make sure you're OK w/o shimmer, cuz i REALLY miss it :(

i dont post much, but you asked a great question, photos from the people giving advice are important. ycnibrc has some great shots in his gallery and has given some good input here. i went with tunzes on wavyseas and couldnt be happier.

I don't have the luxury of a fish room so I have to cramp everything underneath my stand.

If you look at the picture you can see that I have the overlow flex tube reduce to 3/4'' hose go directly to the A250 2X1260 H&S.

and the other A200 1260 H&S in the back ground feed it from the return pump. If I can design my over flow again I will have 3 over flow so I can directly feed 2 straight to both skimmer.

skimmer in the rear have been working hard Anthony, so on those H&S do the collection cup twist off or snug fit similar to BK?
just click on red house to view pics klviper :D

but be very careful going through the pics, as some guys here on RC made it to mental institution after viewing it.

Wow cubi nice setup, when I have a few hours I'll have to go through your setup lol.. I don't even want to know how many man hours you have in that setup.

thanks, first 3 months from 7pm -3am. i lost count myself on how many hrs. and not spending time with family too. its going to take you awhile to go through my thread, so get some popcorn ready and enjoy w/wife and kid(s) :D 3 hrs show min.

Well guys the tank comes this weekend and I am thinking of this setup for filtration from MRC and was curious on others thought on their products.

MR-4R (rated to 1100 gal)

Mag 9 to feed the Skimmer

I congratulate to your plan! The tanks are very beautiful!
I do not want to try to be clever, for me only an 230g my tank, 60g refugium and 70g sup is. Than shows I live in Europa and here is smallest tanks the general ones. Mutual according to me Tunze Streems more the experience here.
If you accept some councils:
Never enough from the flow! I the bigger Tunze Steems I recommend it! I was two pieces for me the 6100's than I had to put it in yet an other 6100 and a Power head. The SPS corals were not huge under a year though! My tank is only 68"!
I think the 6201 is a better choise.
Tunze Wavebox did not prove competent based on the local experiences in here. Very many people bought it, but many people sold it. Very spectacular but he has disadvantages. The reason of this that it works well in a tank where the plughole is in the middle simply.
Brings much dirt into the sand and under the stones in the middle in the tank. Anybody may try this in that manner.
A test: Takes a bigger pot in your hand, than intestine does water and a little very tiny sand. Let you make it wobble carefully and the sand will assemble in the middle on the bottom of the pot. This may cause a problem on long distance!
Other test: Let you put a little bands onto the end of a thin rod what has a rich colour. Let you put it into the water and can look at it in the tank on different places where it goes flow. We looked at tanks in this manner and we saw it avoids the plughole many times and goes downwards.
I believe it in that manner, A Reeflow Skimmer good choice.

Sorry, I study the English yet. If I did not write something well and it is not possible to understand it, then correct

Many successes to the project!

Peter, the english is a little rough but very understandable. Thanks for the reply! Interested in peoples experience with MRC product.
