9002 Nano Skimmer placement Question

Hi,

I have been unhappy with the performance of the skimmer that came with my Finnex 30G M-Tank. I am limited to space in the tank for what skimmer to use and it looks like the 9002 would fit if I attach it to the side of the glass instead of the back in the skimmer chamber (please see pic and dimensions):

MTG-2401top.jpg

Capacity & dimension: 30 gallon, 24"L x 18"W x 17" H
Skimmer chamber: 8" x 4" x 17"
Refugium chamber: 12" x 4" x 12"

Tanks holds about 25G empty and about 18G with sand/rock. Would the 9002 be a good option?

Thanks,
Matt

The 9002 would be perfect for that tank. There is a recent thread where one is used in a finnex tank.

Smatter,

Here is a rough diagram of my tank and where I would place the 9002. Could you explain where the water flowes into the skimmer as I am unable to tell from the photos. I am concerned if I place it the way I show it in the diagram the intake may face the back wall.

Thanks,

The intake always faces the back wall, as it is two slots in the back of the skimmer. There is a gap of about .75 inches if you use the Tunze mounting hardware. I don't think you will find a more effective skimmer to fit in that space.
