9002 nano skimmer

I'm thinking about getting the 9002 nano skimmer for my 20 nano tank. the problem is, on the website it has a listed immersion depth of 7-8.6".

Because of the layout of my sump, the maximum water height can only be 6.75". do you think this will cause performance issues?

also, would this be a good size skimmer for a heavily stocked sps 20 gal nano tank?

thanks!

I think it should work, the important thing with the 9002 is to keep the water level constant. It also works best, as with any skimmer, when the cup is kept clean. You'll probably pull a little bit drier skimmate at that immersion depth, but thats ok, it tends to skim a little wet anyway.

5" with the magnet I just measured. Will be tight fit maybe you can get a special order without the magnet.

yea... not to sure if that's gunna work unless i move one of the baffles (which i'm really trying to avoid)
thanks for the info!

I would not go below 7" submerged, I fear that won't work very well. Unless someone here has tried it and can confirm it will work, I would advise against it. That would be below the internal cup baffle and this would likely prevent the foam from properly rising up the cup.
