9002 parts question

Hi Roger, I was wondering if I could order that little clear elbow ? The one that connects the airline to the outlet pipe. I looked around on the Tunze site and a few other places and had no luck. Any info would be great. Thank you. Mike.

It is only available with the airline as part 3110.490, Lee's used to offer the same elbow but switched to a blue molded plastic that won't work, I am fairly certain we get this elbow from Hobby-Dohse but I don't know if they have distribution in the US. If it is just clogged I would try to unclog it with a long soak in vinegar.

Thanks for the reply Roger. Thats exactly what I did. A vinegar soak and a little bit of scrapping did the trick. Just wanted an extra 1 or 2 around to speed up the process. Thanks again. Mike.

I had looked for that part as well, and didn't have any luck. I've been cleaning mine for the last few years and it's getting pretty scraped up - which creates a quicker clog time due to the nice rough surface for the deposits to stick to :) If anyone finds a replacement that will work for this, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Hi Matt, I have an e-mail to a company in Germany that sells them. I tried the usa, but no luck. They come in packs of 25. So, if they sell them to me, I'll give you as many as you want. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Mike.

That's awesome Mike! Let me know! I'd probably only need a few - let me know how much they cost you.

On parts like this, if nothing else pans out, I can usually get them with a bit of advanced notice. They have longer 8 digit part numbers for sub builds at the factory and it takes a while but it an be arranged. Worst case I will be in Germany in May and can pick some up myself.

That would be great Roger, if this doesn't pan out. Thanks for your intrest and I will keep you in the loop. I was thinking about moving to Texas for the weather. But, I think I'll just stay in Ma. and put up with all the Progressives. Our weather has been better than yours. Mike.

Awesome Roger! Yeah, get as many as you can LOL. I'm sure there will be some people that would appreciate having them available for purchase should they need them.

LOL, Mike.

I keep a plant tank, a 220 plant tank, I just don't have the time for a reef at the moment and gardening and plants are what I find most relaxing and our warehouse is small and poorly climate controlled so an office tank would be very difficult. Honestly, never turn a hobby into a job, you will burn out on the hobby end very quickly.

Hello Roger and Matt. Just heard back from Germany. They do not sell to the usa under any circumstances. lol So, it looks like its up to Roger again. We just keep adding to his work load. Sorry about that ! Mike.

I will email them and see what I can arrange.

I'm not hoping for much here since it's been 8 months and all, but what the hey, right? :) Perhaps at least you may not be as busy as you were during the time we last spoke.

Any luck with these Roger, or anyone who may have some? I think my little plastic elbow is nearing the end. If there's any hoops you can jump through to make some available for people, I'm willing to cough up a little dough.

I'm also going to be converting my old 9002 to the magnet mount, and I forgot what parts you said that I needed to order to do that.

Thanks! Hope your not as loaded down now.

Matt

I have a few of these elbows now, you really just need a 6025.500 magnet and the factory glue we use is Tangit, which we sell in a 4 oz tube. It is basically a jelly like plastic glue, for PVC, ABS and acrylic, it is like acrylic glue in that it melts the plastics together.

How much are the little elbows? I assume all of this can be ordered through the Tunze site? Thanks!

The elbows are $1 each, they are not a standard part and only sold with the airline normally, I had to make a special arrangement to get them. Let me know what you need by PM and we can take the order by paypal or by phone.

Got the order - thanks!

One question pertaining to the PVC glue and magnet - how long should I have to wait before inserting the skimmer back into the water? It's been about an hour and the glue seems to be completely dry. The instructions on the glue say to wait 24 hours for pressure testing, but of course that doesn't apply in this case. What sort of leachables should I be concerned with, if any? Thanks!

It is just the solvent which would rise out of the water, in a low dose it won't be lethal but I would wait at least 8 hours.

I would like a few if you still have them or have come up with any alternatives since this was posted. The problem I find is that you need to do a little scraping with like a paper clip to really get them clean then they get clogged even faster because of the roughness. Also is the airline the standard type that fits any air pump?
