hi roger,

picked up the nano skimmer friday afternoon from marine depot and i have a couple of questions.

1. after looking at the picture on tunze's website, is there a nib missing from mine?

2. can you identify the item on the left in the above picture? it's a mystery part to me and i don't know if it broke off during transit or if i'm supposed to find a home for it somewhere on the skimmer. if so, what/where is it supposed to go?

It looks like the bottom corner with the little cord retainer came off the plate, it should work without it just fine until i can get a replacement for you. The piece you show inside is the venturi and jet tube, it is glued to the front of the pump with Tangit. It is looking like for the future they need to send these unassembled as mine had the same problem. I can send you the glue or have it picked up and repair it for you. This is the same way it was assembled originally so it is no different the glue just didn't adhere well enough for the stress of transport. The bottom plate cannot be repaired and I will need to arrange a replacement.

should i send the unit back to you directly or drop it off at marine depot? the plate is also extremely loose so it would need to be reglued as well. i'm in no rush, it was a gift to myself for a small tank to be set up after my floors are refinished and that was rescheduled for mid-january. let me know, i drive by MD twice a day on my way to and from work or i can just ship it directly to you. thanks!

If you would send it direct to me. I will fix the lower plate as a temporary fix and order a new one on Monday, the ones I have from the older 3110/2 would fit but are brown in color and my skimmer was a prototype with some brown pieces. The venturi will be repaired and I will return it, include a small gift for your trouble and send you the plate when it comes in. Please include a copy of this thread in the box. I really appreciate you working with me, it is really nice to work with people who are calm and polite, I don't always get that benefit.

stuff happens :) it's a long way from germany to california and with all new products things have to be worked out (i.e., packaging). i think you're right about sending them out "unassembled", that's one heavy-duty little pump in there and if it moves around a lot during shipping somethings gonna give.

thanks for your help here, answering my questions when i called last week, and kind offer (it's not necessary but thank you). i'll send it out this week.
