9002 skimmer

just ordered and received a new 9002 to replace the stock skimmer in my red sea max,planning to plug the 9002 directly into the rsm power center,i find i cannot do this because tunze Autralia are shipping skimmers with a euro plug and bodgy adapter,is this a cost cutting exercise by tunze or is tunze Australia doing the wrong thing?

the main issue for me is that i paid a premium price for the local unit(expecting the correct plug) which i could have got ex singapore far cheaper and bought a better adapter

one other thing,if i cut the euro plug off and fit the correct Australian plug will this void the warranty?

You would need to contact the Australian distributor on this matter as I am not familiar with the plug adapters and the related rules. Australia is not a very populous country and has a unique plug so on some items it is not cost effective to make a pump with a proper Australian cable and adapters are used.

Thankyou Roger for that info,ihave contacted aqua depot but they have not replied and as this is now the Tunze (USA and Australia) forum i thought i might get an answer
I realise Australia is not very populous (thats why we love it) but i think its a bit rude for Tunze to treat its customers as second class based purely on sales,the Tunze devotees down under are just as enthusiastic about their products as anyone else, i suppose its just economics,but at a premium price (we pay over $240 for this product)i think its pretty mean not to put a $2 plug on

Tunze Australia has not participated in the forum for some months. They got busy with other things. I understand where you are coming from, but FWIW we have the same issues with some products in the US that are low turnover, it may sound as simple as a $2 plug but typically thousands have to be ordered so if you break it down over the sales and consider the storage and other issues, it is much more than a $2 plug. All the US models of the controllers also have German to US plug adapters because the volume is not high enough to justify a separate switched socket. You aren't being singled out.
