I recently downsized and picked up a 9004 skimmer. I have never had a nano type skimmer before. I have always favored european or US made high end needle wheels (after my first ETSS way back when).
I am very impressed by this little skimmer. It produces a remarkably consistent and thick foam and extracts 1/2 a measuring cup of dark tea colored skimmate every 2 days, like clockwork.
Best of all, this skimmer is very very quiet. I am a noise fanatic and consider noise as the primary criteria for selecting new equipment. I have the quietest tank I have personally heard (sound proofing in stand, etc). I would sacrifice performance if necessary for silence, but in this case it seems I don't have to. It is very difficult to explain how quiet this skimmer is because noise is so subjective, but it is quieter than my eheim 1250 return pump and my Noctura DC 4" computer fan as points of reference.
I have ~60 gallons of water volume, which is at the upper end of the recommended range; however, nitrates have stayed <1ppm for several weeks now so I believe it is keeping up.
So that is about it! Works like it is supposed to, plug and play, exceptionally quiet. Highly recommended.
