I am having a problem with a purculating noise coming out of the skimmer. It is skimming well and getting nice coffee colored skimmate. When i try lowering the skimmer it loses the vertex and stops skimming.

Any suggestions? I am sure I am doing something wrong

thanks

Such a noise is usually caused by some water in the air line or silencer, I would check this first.

Water is still skimming, but there is not as strong a suction as the water can more easily flow in through the bigger opening when more of the body is submerged.

Thanks for the quick reply

The silencer is all dry and I blew air into the airline to see if I can get rid of water in it. Still the same problem. It is not as loud but still purculating When i blew air in, it worked perfectly and quietly.

Any other suggestion?

I would try closing the air completely, let it run a few seconds and slowly opening it back up, it may be some air trapped in the motor. Also make sure the impeller is facing up to the cup.
